Sarah – ☆☆☆☆
This is a perfect summer beach read. The sweet and fluffy romantic comedy is set in the Hamptons and it tells the story of a real estate agent and a wealthy lawyer who buy, renovate, and sell beach properties for profit.

Pierce is a near perfect alpha male character. He’s super rich and handsome and his real estate hobby provides an escape from his stifling corporate life. He’s sweet, caring, and generous – and he has a three-legged rescue dog. Do guys get any better?

While I loved Pierce, it took me a few chapters to warm to Rian. She starts the novel with a bit too much aggression and anger. I think the author was trying to demonstrate Rian’s independence but too many of her sassy moments just felt rude and bitchy. She gets better later in the book and I did enjoy her resourcefulness and the banter between her and Pierce.

There is great heat between Pierce and Rian and a few comical moments that keep the story light. Ultimately, this is a fun and easy read. I’m sure I could poke holes in the plot and relationship if I tried, but it really was the perfect book for an afternoon on a sun lounger with a few cocktails.


Lee'Anne – ☆☆☆☆
I’m a big fan of Helena Hunting’s writing style, she writes in a way that will have you transported to a different world and you’ll be unable to put the book down. I flipping loved I Flipping Love You, it’s fantastic!

Rian Sutter grew up with rich parents completely oblivious to the fact that they didn’t earn their money in the most honest way. She and her twin sister found out the hard way in their late teen years. Now adults, they’re working to get their life back on track by buying, flipping, and selling houses in the Hamptons. Rian’s crazy sister gets her in trouble with Pierce, a handsome lawyer, after damaging his car and then fleeing. Pierce confuses Rian for her sister and an unlikely bond begins to form. Pierce is only in town for a while, taking a break from his city lawyer life, he’s helping his brother with his real estate ventures by doing the labor for their flips. It takes a while before Rian and Pierce realize they’re in the same business but once they do things go from steamy to crazy competitive as they compete for the same properties.

Rian and Pierce find themselves in several awkward situations that had me laughing out loud and a few good natured, creative pranks the two played on one another. This story never has a dull moment, both Pierce and Rian live crazy, busy lives and that makes for a very fast-paced book. I really enjoyed it and I think that the author did a great job of giving us enough glimpses of Rian’s sister, Marley, that I’m hoping the next book in this series is her story!


Ruthie – ☆☆☆☆
This is the third in the series, but can be read as a standalone for sure.

We first meet Rian when she is faced with a very angry Pierce, as he mistakes her for her twin. Then they meet to resolve the accident issue, and... well Pierce would like to keep meeting her as much as he can. Their chemistry is clearly fantastic, even if the timing is wrong for both of them.

As we get to know Pierce and Rian, and learn about their backgrounds, we also know that there are some serious conflicts of interest which could arise in their dealings in the Hamptons. Pierce though is in for the long haul, and just needs to convince Rian. Sadly, her past has made her wary, and her parents' fraud is usually the ending of any friendship, so she is nervous of revealing her true past.

I didn't find this story as laugh out loud funny as the others, although the green Speedos were a brilliant touch. As we watch the potential disaster approaching, it is difficult to know how things will turn out well, but luckily, Helena Hunting had it all sorted for us and provides a perfect ending.

Sarah – ☆☆☆☆
This is an incredibly entertaining romantic comedy. For Amalie, being jilted at the altar would have been bad – but being cheated on at her own reception is much worse. In a flash, the docile society bride we came to dislike in the first book becomes Anarchy Amie – a woman who flies solo on her honeymoon with a suitcase full of sex toys.

Amalie’s broken heart doesn’t last long and fate quickly throws her together with the handsome Lexington (Bane’s brother from the first book – and her cheating husband’s first cousin).

There is a whole lot of sex in this story. Amalie has a bag full of toys and she is making up for a whole lot of unsatisfying sex with her ex. I did find myself skimming the sex by the midpoint of the book – but there are a few delightfully imaginative scenes.

I much preferred this story to the first in the series. Amalie is a more independent character than Ruby and while she is just as privileged, she works and she is self-supporting. She is also funny and fierce, and she confronts her wedding day humiliation with grace, champagne, and a pair of garden shears.

Despite really enjoying this book, I hate it when homophobic language is used to insult men. It’s disappointing from an author I usually respect and I’m sure she could have had her characters use other terms to describe Amalie’s cheating husband. I can certainly think of a few vivid descriptions!

Amalie is trying to be the embodiment of what she believes Armstrong wants. But when she's jilted on her wedding day, in a very public manner, she uses her friend Ruby to help get her out of the horrible situation.

Lexington is a character that I have enjoyed in the previous books. He also is a lovely main character in this story. He sees how Amalie is handling being jilted and offers her a shoulder to cry on and anything else she needs.

There are several hilarious scenes in this book that had me laughing out loud. But there was also a hint of seriousness too, which just added to the development and depth of the story.

I really enjoyed watching this relationship develop. It was a great story and I really enjoyed the characters. Their ability to banter, but be serious and loving just added to their charm.


Ruthie – ☆☆☆☆
This book follows on from Shacking Up, and the short story in the Halloween anthology Eye Candy. I enjoyed both of them and am delighted to say that this is another great story. It could be read as a standalone, but Shacking Up is so much fun that I do recommend it to you.

We have met Amalie (Amie to her real friends) in Ruby's story, as they are best friends. We find out that she is engaged to Ruby's boyfriend's cousin, Armstrong, and that Ruby is not happy with the changes Amie is making to make him happy. In this story we find out how they first meet, and then skip forward to the wedding. So we know what an idiot he is in advance, and can only be delighted at his fall from grace.

Whilst parts of the story are not new, there are some great twists and turns which ramp up the drama, without being too extreme. I did laugh at some of the crazy, and was totally invested in Amie and her future with Lexington – especially after the story in Eye Candy.

I love this gang of people and their crazy lives. I do hope that we get more from them in the future.

Ruthie – ☆☆☆☆
Just a couple of weeks ago I got the chance to read Ms. Hunting's Halloween story about this couple, in the Eye Candy collection of novellas, and knew immediately that I needed to read back and find out just how the whole story started! I am normally a stickler for reading series in order, but it turns out that hindsight can be quite useful too! And certainly when it came to Amalie and Armstrong, it was fun to think that I knew more than they did!

Ruby is one of those fascinating characters who has been formed by her past, but who is determined to change her present and her future; even if it much harder work than it could be. I love her drive, her acceptance of less even though she has been used to a lot more – and love her honesty and cynicism about the value of money over love. Her father is most certainly not a great role model when it comes to men, but she has still enough of a romantic nature to give love a chance.

Some of the scenes in this book are utterly hilarious and I do recommend that you are in a place where silence is not required (or have a cushion to smother your laughter). It was a very refreshing take on the rich male, not so rich female story, and Bane's past as a rugby player had made him much more of a thinking man than many. His generosity and kindness were a definite turn on... even if the sock habit threatened everything in the beginning!

Thank you, Ms. Hunting, for a very entertaining story. I cannot wait to read Hooking Up – the new book in the series.


Avid Reader – ☆☆☆☆
This is the full-length story of Ruby and Bancroft. I was able to see a glimpse into this couple in a short Halloween novella and I loved that I got to see how Ruby and Bancroft began.

Ruby is a quirky, independent, and awesome character. She is trying to find her own way and despite having a less than stellar dad, she continues to want to impress and seek his approval. When she finds herself in a bind, none other than Bancroft comes to her rescue.

Bancroft is a very wealthy, ex-rugby (yum) player and he is so very nice that it almost seems fake. When he realizes that he might have cost Ruby a lot more than a week of being sick, he wants to do something to help. I love how he loves his pets and I also love how he shows Ruby how much he supports her.

There is obvious miscommunication in this story and I really wanted to hurt Bancroft's mother several times. Then you have Armstrong (who I despise just as much in this story as I did in the novella) and Amalie, who I think is just as weak as she was in the novella. I really want more from Bancroft's family men.

I loved the chemistry that Ruby and Bancroft shared, and I like how they were able to talk and develop their relationship before just jumping in to bed. I think that this was a sweet story with a lot of hilarity mixed in to some more serious issues.

I can't wait to see what more comes of all of these characters.


Lee’Anne – ☆☆☆☆☆
Helena Hunting rocks at sports romances and this one is no exception – loved it!

Ruby Scott is a performer who can’t seem to catch a break. Her father is rich but has pretty much cut Ruby off in the hopes she’ll return home and Ruby is getting more and more behind on her bills, then some random man kisses her the night before her last lined up audition and gets her extremely sick with the flu. Ruby’s best friend is engaged and her fiancé’s cousin happens to be going out of town for five weeks and needs a pet-sitter, win-win! Ruby’s super surprised to show up and find Bane, the random kisser. Bane feels terrible about getting Ruby sick and offers her his place as long as she needs. The two are extremely attracted to one another but with Bane leaving, starting something just isn’t a good idea… but then the two talk the entire time Bane is gone and an unbreakable friendship is forged. Once Bane returns things really heat up!

I think my favorite part about this book is that though there is the one crazy kiss at the beginning, these two don’t just jump into bed with one another. Things move slow and usually that would make for a boring read, but Helena Hunting does a marvelous job keeping things interesting. I couldn’t put this book down! I can’t wait for the next book by this author!


Sarah – ☆☆☆
This is a light romance about two wealthy socialites in New York. The storyline is classic romantic comedy full of mistaken identities, miscommunication, and awkward, comical moments. It was a fun and easy read.

However, when I thought more carefully about this story, I struggled with the characters and their attitudes. I really struggle with romance where women are divided into ‘good girls’ worth dating/marrying and ‘sluts’ – gold diggers criticised for showing too much skin and having too much sex. Ruby and Bancroft’s attitude towards Brittany does the sisterhood no favours.

Beyond her bitchy jealousy, Ruby’s sense of entitlement makes her almost impossible to like. Just like far too many rich kids, she hates her family’s wealthy while still enjoying the perks. When she wanted to become an actress instead of joining the family business, her father only pays her rent on a small flat in a rough area. I think we were supposed to either admire her gumption for living there or feel some sort of sympathy for her – but honestly – first world problems much? The girl is completely oblivious to her privilege. Her family’s wealth gives her access to a social circles and financial support that most struggling actresses couldn’t dream of. When her father stopped paying her rent, Ruby couldn’t (wouldn’t?) support herself. Without her family name, she would have been living on her friends’ floors – not ferret sitting in an Upper West Side penthouse.

Bancroft is slightly more likeable. I struggled some with the way his family duty shapes his life. He was allowed a rugby career but after an injury, he hurried back to his family business. I kept wondering if Ruby’s pedigree influenced his feelings for her. Would he have dated a burlesque dancer from a poor family? Bancroft works for his money but seems equally oblivious to his immense privilege.

So yes. This is an easy and entertaining read. But when I started thinking about it, I found myself increasingly annoyed by the characters and their values.

Avid Reader – ☆☆☆

This was a very frustrating story for me. While it did have more of a party theme to it, the short snippets of characters we were able to see left me wanting.

I liked how Bancroft and Ruby banter back and forth and they have some great chemistry. You get to see some jealousy among them, which gives them a feeling of having a lot of passion.

Then you have Amie and Armstrong and their relationship borders on emotional abuse. Armstrong is horrible and I hated him. Not to mention that he still lets his mother run his life. I also wished that Amie was more able to stand up for herself – she essentially just took whatever was dished out.

Finally, you had Lexington. He sounded so confident and sexy, but in the end, he was just an extra character – I think we needed more from him for this story to feel more complete.

I enjoyed the relationships between dynamic and hope there is more to come from these characters, as I felt that a lot went unsaid.


Ruthie – ☆☆☆☆
This novella follows the Shacking Up book – which I have to admit I have not yet read, however I shall be rectifying that very soon! There is enough of an introduction that my lack of knowledge did not matter enough to affect my enjoyment, but I bet I would have got some of the inside jokes better if I had.

This is a very cute, sassy, and comedic little story – with some super hot interludes, which in one case definitely led to a most unfortunate double wardrobe malfunction. At least that is how it is for Bane and Ruby. Things are not so good for Amalie, but I have a feeling that Lex is going to be her salvation in future installments – I certainly hope so.
