Lara Ashburn left the biker life long ago, after having been betrayed by a prospect to the club run by her uncle. It was the last straw in a long line of hurt and disappointment. As a child, her father had been killed while a member of an outlaw club, her mother abandoned her and her brother to the club life to live in the civilian world, and her uncle had no use for her unless she was useful to the club. Her only remaining tie to that part of her life is her brother, who is currently serving time in a federal clubhouse only hours away from her new home in Lagrange, LA.

Starting over in this humidity laden landscape, she's done her best to blend in, lay low, and stay out of trouble. Unfortunately for her, her current class misfit is also the daughter of the Devil’s Keepers MC enforcer, Chaser.

Chaser has enough problems without being called on the carpet because of his daughter's behavior at school. When the prissy school teacher called him seven times in the past 24 hours, he knew a little visit was in order to set the woman straight. What he didn't realize was that the uptight and tight-laced woman was going to turn his world upside down. Or that she was very familiar with the biker world.

Lara's inner turmoil at being thrust back into the MC word is palpable. She has to come to terms that her world is turning upside down again and she doesn't know where to go. The words of her brother come back to haunt her "You see what you want to see." and Lara must do a lot of soul searching to find her happily ever after.

Lots of drama and we find out a lot more about Digger and what's in store for the Devil’s Keepers MC and all its brethren.

MC romances have always been my favorite, but I have to say that adding in a teacher heroine really boost them in my book. This is a book you won’t want to put down once you’ve started – I loved every page.

Ryan, aka Chaser, has just returned from a long trip to a phone full of voicemails from his teenage daughter’s teacher requesting a meet. Chaser heads to the school and meets Lara, his daughter’s teacher. It doesn’t take much from the conversation between Chaser and Lara for Chaser to discern that Lara knows more about club life then she’s willing to admit, then a little bit longer and he has her bent over the desk… This is the start to one crazy rollercoaster ride of a relationship. Lara thinks she doesn’t want anything to do with the MC life after all she witnessed having grown up around her uncle’s MC, but Chaser is showing her what it really means to be a part of a Motorcycle Club and it’s nothing like Lara believed. Add in a war against a rival MC, a president who obviously isn’t trust worthy, and a threat against Lara, and this makes for an angst filled book you’ll not be able to quit.

I love the fast pace of Devil’s Own and that while you can read it as a standalone, it also manages to pick right up where book two left off. The author’s done a brilliant job with this series and I can’t wait for more.


Ruthie – ☆☆☆☆
This is the third in the series, and each one deals with a different member of the Devil’s Keepers MC finding out that love for the brotherhood can be trumped by the love of a good woman.

In this instance, the club enforcer, Chaser, finds the chemistry is explosive with his daughter's history teacher, who calls him in to talk about her behaviour. With such a dramatic and unexpectedly hot start to the book, we are catapulted right back into the heat of the bayou. Rest assured the temperature never decreases. By some wonderful quirk of fate, these two trip every last one of their issues and prove themselves to be utterly worthy of the other... it makes for compulsive reading. We also have the ongoing plot regarding the club itself and the fallout following Whale's 'disappearance.' The scene is set for a major showdown in future installments.

For a really gritty, sexy, and super hot love story, with ongoing politics and intrigue too, this makes for a truly good read.

Outstanding addition to the Edge series! Wulf has been a mysterious character from the beginning and my fascination with him has only increased with each book. Needless to say, I could not wait to get my grabby hands on Edge of Power. And Crane did not disappoint as she weaved the tale of the Raider King, the Western Highland Princess, and a love that neither ever expected to find, let alone with each other.

If you’ve read the series from the beginning – and I strongly recommend that you do because a major series arc comes to a head in Edge of Power – you know that while all the raiders in the brotherhood are fierce, there are none more so than Wulf, the Raider King. Which is precisely what makes his infiltration of King Athenian’s mountain compound so amusing because few men would walk right up to the front gate of the man who’s sent dozens of assassins to kill him. It also made being inside Wulf’s head riveting as he forced himself to tamp down his natural inclination to fight, as he forced himself to appear dimwitted, as he forced himself to bide his time and appear to play into the king’s games, and as he found someone who made him rethink is decision to live his life alone. As for that someone, watching Princess Kathlyn adapt to the new world she was thrust into as her blinders were ripped off and she began to see the darker side of the world she lived it was intriguing. That she was not nearly as pampered as one would expect a princess to be helped facilitate her growth and it enabled her to take hold of her own destiny, eschewing the rules of the “civilized” world in which she was raised, in order to claim the future she wanted for herself.

There was so much about Edge of Power that I enjoyed, but I think the scene that had me enraptured was when Wulf shared with Kathlyn how he came to be the Raider King. Even knowing how violent raiders could be, I was stunned by the brutality of it, and it explained so much about Wulf and the bond he shared with Tyr. Also, I could not help but wonder if Eiryn was aware of the part their father played in it because she doesn’t strike me as someone who would back that kind of move. However, what absolutely shocked me was the twist I did not see coming when the raiders descended upon King Athenian’s compound. I wasn’t surprised that the cowardly king attempted to hide and that several of his men laid down their weapons in surrender, not willing to die for the tyrant. I was surprised by who betrayed him and why. My only complaint about the book is that we didn’t get to see Lorna get her comeuppance, but I’m petty that way. The ending of Edge of Power was perfect because Crane wrote it in such a way that it can serve as the series end or set the stage for another installment – I know which one I’m hoping for because I would love to return to The Edge.

Little Holly Chambless's world is falling apart. With her father in jail on corruption charges, her mother hidden in her bedroom with all of her pills, she has no choice but to try to find her way in life. She's going to start by getting rid of the nice girl image she's had to portray all of her life. Gone are the reasons she had let her father mold her into the perfect trophy wife.

Watching Holly walk into Dumb Gators was something that Killian aka "Uptown" thought he'd never see. She was still as beautiful as the day she surprised him and a groupie getting it on the cemetery and just as innocent. Letting her actually work there might be the stupidest thing he ever did.

This installment in the Devil's Keeper series moves the entire story forward, but it seemed like there was a few scenes missing at times. I would have loved to know more about how/why her father was initially jailed, how he go out, more about what Whale is/was up to, etc.

Overall a good read, one that I stayed up late to finish.


Ruthie – ☆☆☆☆
This is the second in the series – and I would recommend that you read book one first as there is an ongoing plot running through the story, even though this is another DKMC brother finding unexpected romance.

Holly has been living her life to please her father, as her mother lives in a fog of prescription drugs. However, he has now been arrested and his shine has come off. Sadly, as the story progresses it comes off even more, as Holly makes some very unwelcome discoveries. As a 23 year old who has led a 'perfect, pure' life, all these revelations throw her ordered world into chaos. When she decides to go for a job in the biker bar, she is definitely pushing on boundaries!

Uptown still remembers being seen by Holly when she was just 16, and even though he hates her father, she gets his protection. As the reader, we get to experience the confusion and uncertainty that both these people feel as their feelings get in the way of good sense and expectation. I loved her innocent sassiness, his indulgent anger, their inability to resist each other’s charms. No need for the Bayou to heat up the pages, these two do the job themselves.

Add in the danger of the biker club which has some serious problems brewing, and this makes for a really good read. I am looking forward to a third installment.

This was a pretty good MC romance, it can definitely be read as a standalone.

Holly Chambless’s entire life has been spent being perfect for her mayor father. When it comes out that her father is corrupt and going to prison, Holly decides to take life by the horns by getting a job at the local biker bar. Uptown is an enforcer for the MC and has always had a little thing for Holly but knows she’s always been off limits. Now that she’s decided to immerse herself with the MC, Uptown decides she’s his to protect and the two start off a rollercoaster relationship. Holly’s father messed with the MC and Uptown knows that a way to get back at him would be to ruin his perfect daughter, the catch being that Uptown’s feelings quickly become involved.

I really enjoyed the sparks that fly between Holly and Uptown. For the most part, the story was fast-paced, but there were a few parts that I found myself skimming, especially towards the middle. The sexy scenes are well written with lots of dirty talk, so if that’s your thing, this is definitely a read for you.

Ruthie – ☆☆☆☆
Biker series can take many routes, and I really like where this one is going. A strong start with plenty of interesting characters who will hopeful feature in future books. In addition to the issues of family, love, and outlaw behaviour, we get to see that there are bigger, darker forces afoot. I always enjoy there being many levels to a story which will last throughout a series.

Merritt is a woman who has written her history as she saw it, and when she returns to the place that she last felt safe, she has a lot of lessons to learn and some growing up to do. Guiding her – or maybe forcing her to see what is real – is the man that she left behind many summers ago. Now that they stand on opposite sides of the tracks, it is a fabulous ride watching their story unfold. There is a good level of drama, plenty of hot and dirty, tied up in bad and dreamy! I was glad that I started reading it in the afternoon, as I did not stop until I turned the last page.

Really good read, thank you Ms. Crane.

I really loved this story but I’m giving a 3.5 star rating because I didn’t like Merritt, she’s so indecisive and unsure! It was ridiculous and I wanted to reach into my Kindle and throttle her. Other than Merritt’s… indecisiveness, this was a great book and I’m really looking forward to whoever’s story comes next!

Greely is the enforcer for the Devil’s Keepers MC, five years ago he met and fell in love with Merritt Broussard only to have her choose her law career over him. When Merritt leaves, Greely leaves her with one warning, “if you come back I will either kill you or keep you.” Now five years later, Merritt has a boyfriend in New York who is cray-cray so she heads home (to a place she despises) to Lagrange. As soon as Greely gets Merritt’s back he heads to her and the book steams right up – the sexy scenes are off the charts hot. Will he keep her?

One of my least favorite parts about this book was that once Greely finds out about why Merritt is really back in town and Greely moves her into his place it’s like “months go by” and there is very little detail. I find it quite odd that Merritt was cool with living with Greely for months then all of a sudden was ready to run again. It seemed off to me. My favorite part of this book was definitely the MC brothers, I’m so excited to read their stories and I’m especially excited to see what happens with the club president.

This book really just didn't do it for me. The plot was interesting, however I just really didn't like the main character, Merritt, she annoyed me from start to finish.

I also felt the book took forever to get started even though the main characters were both in the book from the beginning. There was far too much description for me and I found myself getting bored.

The sex scenes were hot, so that's a bonus, and I quite liked Greeley, he was very alpha male so he fit his character.

Sadly, I can't see myself reading any further in the series.

Sophie, who glared at him down the length of the bar with a notable lack of the respect Ajax was used to receiving, especially from soft, breakable females who usually purred and got silly when they took a good look at him.

“Oh, hey there, Sean,” she replied after a long moment, her green eyes cool and haughty, like she was a goddamned queen instead of a half naked girl with a death wish, throwing around names she knew better than to use. “Long time no see.”

“Call me that again,” he suggested, in what he considered a friendly manner given the insult she’d just thrown at him, though he wasn’t entirely surprised when Tulane backed away from him in a wide-eyed rush, “and I might be the last thing you ever see.”

“Let me guess,” she replied, “you spent all this time in charm school?” Was it his imagination that she sat taller on her stool, then arched her back just enough to make those tits stick out a little further? Like she was trying to fuck with him? “Between you and me, you might think about asking for your money back. I don’t think it took.”

He forgot who she was for a moment, forgot the respect she was owed because of her father. He grinned at her instead, the way he would any other bitch who got in his face like that, flinging down challenges from across a public bar like he was some dickless frat boy. Ajax had always had a pretty face. No one tended to notice it much after the first time he grinned at them like that, though.

“No need to resort to all this flirting, baby,” he told her softly. “If you want to hop on and ride my dick, just ask.”

Sophie smiled at him, and it was not a nice smile. It was all the proof he needed that she wasn’t that sweet little girl he remembered, and he was a sick fuck, because it fascinated him to see she had her father’s fangs when she felt like showing them. I very much enjoyed Make You Burn! The journey with Ajax (the biker outlaw) and Sophie, whose deceased father was one of the MC's presidents, was quite intriguing.

After being exiled for 10 years, Ajax rolls back into New Orleans upon hearing of Priest's death (the MC's president). Heading straight for the MC hangout, he runs into Sophie, who's only wearing gold hot pants and little else.

The story that follows was very well-written and downright eloquent at times. Megan Crane painted such a perfect picture of heartfelt emotion from a bereaved Sophie, I found myself rereading many of the scenes just to feel it again. Major heat between a reluctant Sophie, who swears she's done with bikers, and Ajax, the biker who remembers Sophie as the off-limits Pres' Catholic-schooled daughter. Panty melting Ajax is the perfect dirty-talking, no-holds-barred, bad boy we love to read. Sophie has enough sass and backbone to stand up to Ajax, and still let him defile her in all the right ways. I was sucked in from the steamy start, and never let down.

I feel I should note the few issues I found, as it jarred me from the story. The POV changed frequently in the beginning, confusing me. But this issue did clear up mid-book. Also, there was gratuitous use of the words Glittering & Babe. Neither issue made me stop reading at any point, but I felt I should let readers know.

I'm greatly anticipating the next installment!

I was a little unsure about this one within the first chapter. I stuck with it and I am so glad I did. It's rough, edgy and it has some of the hottest sex scenes I've read lately. Make You Burn is one HOT read.

Sean Harding, Ajax, once the VP of the Deacons of Bourbon Street MC receives a call telling him Priest his President is dead. Ajax doesn't hesitate to get on his bike and go back to a city he hasn't been to in ten years. When he left it was to protect the brotherhood, now he's back to fight for it. Walking back into the club hangout, Priory, he feels like he's home. Sophie, Priest’s daughter, is all grown up and not the little girl he remembers.

Sophie adored her father but she hated the biker lifestyle. She grew up in the club and understood what that meant to those men. She was always off limits while Priest was around. Now with him gone, she doesn't stand a chance around Ajax and his rough, tough, and sexy ways.

I loved the "voice" the author gave Ajax. Sophie wasn't your typical heroine. She was filled with sass. They made a great combination and the chemistry was off the charts hot. I can't wait to see what's next!

Megan Crane is a New Jersey native who had great plans to star on Broadway, preferably in Evita, just like Patti LuPone. Sadly, her inability to wow audiences with her singing voice required a back-up plan. Accordingly, she graduated from Vassar College and got her MA and PhD in literature from the University of York in England. She wrote her doctoral dissertation on AIDS literature, mostly so she could wallow in her obsession with the remarkable multimedia artist David Wojnarowicz and her idol, the bitter and hilarious David Feinberg. After many years in the rain and subject to the whim of seasons, she followed the sun to Los Angeles, where she lives with too many pets and an artist named Jeff. She is still plotting her Broadway debut.
