Mother of All is the third and final book in the Women's War series. I've loved this series from the first book and couldn't contain my excitement for the conclusion!

I may have had too high expectations because I wasn't all that excited while reading it. The characters were all here, the Blessing/Curse was still present, and the men are still angry.

The story took a long time to develop, it was a lot of conversations between characters without any action.

I love this world that the author, Jenna Glass, created. I love the characters and the magic system, I hate the villains, and dislike even more when I empathize with them.

Overall, this was a solid conclusion to a great series. I was just hoping for more. I feel like some ends were tied too neatly to really fit this story.

Queen of the Unwanted is the second book in The Women's War series, which is classified as women's literature, although I believe anyone could, and should, enjoy it!

In this fantasy world, kings rule, unwanted women are delegated to the Abbey (brothel), and magic is wielded based on sex.

While the above statement is the truth, we are now seeing the changes taking effect after the world shaking Blessing/Curse (depending on who you ask) has been cast. A spell that takes just a tiny sliver of power away from the men and awards it back to women... this little thing has thrown the world into a tailspin.

This book continues where The Women's War left off. Alys has been awarded the position of Sovereign of Women's Well, and while she's the leader, she is dealing with a devastating loss. She's a mother, a daughter, a sister, and a leader. She's also the sworn enemy to her homeland and declared a traitor by her half-brother. She's dealing with many things and doing the best she can for her new principality, but will it be enough?

What I love about this series is that every single character has a story. All the females (Queen Ellinsoltah, Kailee, Chanlix, and Mairahsol) have something that makes them human, they have flaws but they never give up. I must mention that even the female villain in this book, one I truly despised, totally shocked me. I would never guess that I could empathize with this woman, I wouldn't think I could like her... and here I am, still thinking about her.

This story takes the patriarchal society and is turning it on its head. I love the magical elements, the political intrigue, the character building, and even the budding romance. I will mention that this book took a while to build up, but by 40% I was completely enthralled and didn't put it down until I was done!

I was very excited to read The Women's War, the blurb hooked me, but the story really blew me away. Imagine a male-dominated world full of mystery, magic, and politics. Now imagine women taking power over their fertility and flipping the entire world on its axis...

Alys is stuck in a terrible position: she's been disinherited by her father (the king), her mother has been completely ostracized from society and resides in the abbey, and she's a widow and raising two children. She may be in a tough spot, but she's no wallflower.

Ellin finds herself an orphan: she's a young adult but the only remaining member of the Royal Family. She's in a precarious position, as a queen is allowed to rule only for a short time until she marries and her husband takes over.

Both of these women are much stronger than they appear at first and are in positions to revolutionize the role of women in the world.

I wasn't prepared for the story I read! This book sucked me in and has yet to let go. I find myself thinking of Ellin and Alys, and what they would do in situations. I wonder what happens to the town of Women's Well. Will women prevail? Will the entire world change for the better? I'm patiently waiting for book two!
