Corbin’s Bend – Melissa’s Saving Grace by Corinne Alexander

Melissa Toselli is a wild child with a troubled past. Having been on her own since she was fifteen she is desperate to find the one who will take her into his arms, heart, and control. She has a tendency to pick all the wrong men for all the wrong reasons.

Unbeknownst to Melissa she has caught Corbin’s Bend newbie, Jason Donovan’s, attention. The wild spitfire stirred something inside of him that he could not let go. He could see right through Melissa’s devil may care attitude to the vulnerable child within who just needed someone to care for and watch out for her. She was crying out for some guidance; both the kind that would tuck her in at night and the kind that would take her over a knee for some much needed discipline and structure.

Can Jason give Melissa what she needs and tame the wild child that she is? Can he show her the way a true gentleman treats the woman he has feelings for? Will Melissa turn out to be too much for Jason to handle? Will she fall back into her old ways? Or will Jason and Melissa find exactly what they’re looking for in each other?

Setting her down on the sofa, he sat next to her. He should probably let her sober up the rest of the way before having this conversation. Taking in the firm set of her jaw and ramrod straight line of her spine, she was obviously ready to have this out now. “What were you thinking, Melissa?” He started as gently as he could, but could feel all of his earlier emotions begin to boil again.

Melissa obviously felt them too because she immediately went on the defensive. Her eyes flashed. “You think there’s something wrong with going out dancing?”

He leveled his eyes on hers. “Is that really the stance you want to take right now?”

“Why not?” she spat. “I went out to have some fun. While I admit it got a little out of control, it’s over now. As you can see, I’m fine.”

His mouth dropped open in dismay. “A little out of control,” he sputtered. “Melissa, if I hadn’t found you, who knows what would have happened to you.” He clenched his fists. “You were passed out against a wall for God’s sake.”

“So what are you going to do about it?” she dared him.

Shock zinged through him as her words sunk in. He didn’t know what had gotten into his normally level-headed friend, but this was not a dare he was going to resist. “Melissa, so help me you are about to wind up panties down, bottom up over my knee if you don’t take this conversation seriously, starting now.”

“Oh, I’m taking it seriously, Jason,” she answered back, the fire gone from her voice. “I just think you’re exactly like everyone else in this community. You talk a big game, rushing in to rescue me, but you’re afraid to put your money where your mouth is and give me what I really need.”

Was she really daring him to spank her? Did she honestly think he wouldn’t follow through? His mind scrambled to keep up with the turn of events along with any potential ramifications, but there was no doubt in his mind that before this night was over she would be getting exactly what she asked for.

“Are you going to spank me or what?” she asked, a fierce bravado flashing in her eyes.

He shook his head at the sheer courage she could muster at the blink of an eye. He stood, pulling her with him. Crooking a finger under her chin, he lifted it so that he could look into her shining eyes. “Oh, I’m going to blister your bottom all right,” he said, lowering his voice, allowing the energy to sizzle between them for a few heartbeats. He ran his hands down her arms noticing the little shiver she gave at the contact. “But not yet.” He could see how desperately she needed to gather her thoughts. There would be no spanking until he determined that she was sober and in a better frame of mind. Turning her toward the bathroom, he gave her bottom a soft smack. “Take a shower. We’ll talk when you’re done.” She gave a little squeak, but headed in the direction he sent her.

When reading the blurb for this book it sounds like a really good story. For me the blurb was the best part of the book. I just couldn’t feel a connection to either character and the story just didn’t do it for me. I didn’t think Melissa was really a wild child, she was acting her age really and young adults do the exact same things she did. Yes, she had a traumatic childhood with her parents’ death and she had flashbacks and PTSD from it, but her acting out was just part of being a young adult, fake ID, drinking, lying, that is what a lot of young kids do. I also am not a fan of age play and that was in the book as well. I just didn’t really see the whole point of the book, seemed like a filler book just to have another addition to the series. I love this series and will continue to read it, this one wasn’t for me though.

Characters: Well written and believable

Religious: No

Another installment from Corbin's Bend – and this one focuses tightly on the couple in question. Jason and Melissa have been friends for a while, but after close call with danger from which Jason saves her, things change.

This book certainly has plenty of the traditional spanking for which Corbin's Bend is so renowned, a lot of it deservedly hard, but it also introduces a new kink. It is done quite well, I think, even if it is one which is both innocent and not! I will be interested to read reviews in days to come and see other readers' thoughts.

Corinne Alexander is an erotic spanking romance writer who loves nothing more than to snuggle up with a cup of coffee, a warm blanket, and a steaming hot erotic romance. She enjoys strong alphas, feisty heroines, and a good old fashioned spanking romance. A Brush of Violet (Corbin’s Bend) is her debut novella, now up for the Golden Flogger Award. Corinne’s favorite kind of day is when she can slip away into nature to get lost in her daydreams (spinning her fantasies) with the forest floor under her feet, the wind rustling through her hair, and sunbeams kissing her face.

Corbin’s Bend – A Brush of Violet by Corinne Alexander

High powered business woman, Violet Walker, has long left her artistic days behind. That is until her best friend, Everleigh Harris, invites her to Corbin's Bend for an art festival. What Everleigh doesn't know is that Violet hasn't been able to paint a single brush stroke since turning her back on her submissive desires and spanking needs in college. When she meets charismatic and drop dead gorgeous Charles her world is turned completely upside down. Will Violet, overworked, burnt out, and in denial of her deepest wants and desires, be able to surrender when love knocks on her door?

Charles Robinson, President of the discipline Board in Corbin’s Bend and longtime resident, adores the community he lives in and the freedom it provides for all who live there. Raised in a traditional family; love and discipline are a way of life for him. There’s nothing he wants more than a marriage just like his parents where spanking and romance go hand in hand, even if that means holding out for true love. Is Violet just the kind of woman he’s looking for?

Will Violet risk the life she’s built for herself in blood, sweat, and tears for the undeniable connection she has with Charles, the utter bliss and contentment she feels when she’s over his lap? Can Charles convince Violet she really can have it all? Will this trip be just what she needs to rekindle all that she has lost since joining the corporate world?

Violet was raised to be a strong independent woman; she works hard and never takes a break, until her friend Everleigh asks her to help her with an art festival. When Violet gets to Corbin’s Bend and meets Charles, her world is turned upside down. Things she hasn’t felt in years come back to her and she wants him and what he can offer her but will she be able to give up the life she has worked so hard for? Charles wants Violet but he also wants the lifestyle that Corbin’s Bend has to offer, he just hopes that Violet will too. Another must read from the Corbin’s Bend series, you have to see how this one ends. I just loved Charles and wanted more of him.

From the time she was a child, Violet's parents have pushed her to be the best in everything, except her art. There wasn't any money in art. So, Violet puts aside her brushes and focuses on the business world.

When her BFF Ever calls her and asks her to come visit, Violet wants to blow her off, but something convinces her to say yes. Ever is planning an art show in Corbin's Bend and is encouraging her to bring her paintings that are sitting in storage.

Once in Corbin's Bend, Violet is amazed at how normal it is. Yes, she's seen a few couples engage in public spankings but everyone seems so happy. Violet and Ever discusses Ever's relationship and how much she needs and enjoys the domestic discipline arrangement she has.

Meeting Charles and getting to know him, re-awakens Violet's deep seated desire to be spanked. Charles is happy to show Violet's how domestic discipline can in and of itself be rewarding.

I really enjoyed this book and look forward to more books in this series.

This has to be one of my favourite Corbin's Bend books so far. It deals with some issues which are very real to so many women – being guilt-ridden about not working hard enough to prove that they can perform as well as men, and losing oneself in the process. Time in CB gives Violet time to realise this, and also the pleasure of Charles to help her remove those deep ingrained feelings. I really enjoyed the dynamics and the respect, as well as the building relationship and discipline.

It was good to catch up with old friends and be reminded that this is a vibrant community. Definitely an excellent addition to the series, thank you Ms. Alexander.
