This installment is about Angus, the Widow Wagon master. He lost his two girls and wife to the flu and has been alone a long time. Thinking it a good idea, he decides to help out the widowed women of the old west and master the widow wagon. Little did he know he'd be falling for one of the ladies when her soon to be husband becomes unavailable. Clara has become quite independent, raising her two daughters on her own. It's a tough, lonely road! Especially on the Oregon trail to the west on the widow wagon. Angus is a kind but very strict man. He shows a loving side to Clara's daughters and wins her heart as well. Clara finds herself submitting to quite a dominating man and finding she quite enjoys herself!

I love Clara & Angus together. Great couple & chemistry. Angus is too sweet with her girls and it was nice he was able to have a family again. The story turns a bit to Minnie being kidnapped while they are on the trail, by renegades. I couldn't quite feel anything for Minnie; hell, she mostly got herself in trouble, but there was a nice twist in her story. Again, Michaels rides the edge of harsh discipline & eroticism. The candle wax play was quite hot (pun intended!). Enjoyable read.

I think this is my 4th book by Megan Michaels. Who, I've decided, is a MASTER at writing the tough love, hard punishments Dom! My Lord, these characters pull no spankings!

Daisy is on the widow wagon heading to her new husband after losing her first in the War Between the States. She's a handful, riling up all the women on the wagon. So much so, one even takes a switch to Daisy's behind before she makes it to her new home & new husband, Noah.

Angus, the kind widow wagon master, has a talk with Noah. Warning him that Daisy needs to be taken in hand and that she's a wild spirit in need of taming. Noah has everything Miss Daisy needs but isn't sure she wants including a nice tail for a misbehaving pony girl.

Michaels writes hard core alpha males that spare no rod and I'm almost ashamed (almost) that I love her for it. Noah is certainly creative with his punishments and we have a little pony play that had me snickering and yet, hmmm...interested?! OMG! The female leads are written strong and full of character so it's not too over the top when they choose to submit to such brutal punishments. Which, in my opinion, can be a hard line to stay within when writing a stern dom. Also, Michaels’s naughty leading ladies never lose the spunk that makes us relate to them, they are never broken, weak or wishy washy women. While Daisy was a bit more sassy and smart mouthed than I like to read, Noah certainly had what she craved and I had fun reading their story! Found it truly enjoyable and I'll admit, incredibly erotic.


Mary Jo – ☆☆☆
This is the second installment of the Widow Wagon series and I must say I enjoyed it more than I did the first book.

In this book, we meet Daisy, a highly opinionated woman from Boston who has been sent West by her parents. Daisy is reluctant to join the Widow Wagon but she soon realizes she has no choice as options for a young widow are extremely limited.

Her soon to be husband, Noah Jenson is an immigrant from Denmark, who has taken a parcel of land in Nebraska and turned it into a thriving horse ranch. All he needs is a wife and family to make his life complete.

This book explores spankings as discipline and passionate release, as well as other aspects of BDSM. If you like "pet" play, then I would recommend this book.

Sophie and Daniel have had hard lives and try to find a little happiness courtesy of the Widow Wagon. The wagon master provides safe passage for widows and delivers them to their prospective grooms for a price.

What worked/what didn't: What worked was the historical/western aspect of the book. The author provided great detail as far as the living conditions of post-civil war life in rural America. I also enjoyed the domestic discipline aspects of Sophie and Daniel's relationship.

What didn't: The overwhelming amount of disasters that befell the couple, and the timeline issues. Most life events occurred within one chapter and the aftermath explained in the next while moving towards the next life event. I don't know how else to explain it.

I have enjoyed Megan Michaels’s Service & Submission series greatly, so when I saw she had another series to offer I scooped up the chance to read it! Even though historical romance is not usually in my wheelhouse.

I enjoyed the story of the recently widowed Sophie getting aboard the 1800s widow's wagon in pursuit of a new life after her quite dominant husband is killed by Indians. Sophie travels to Kansas to meet her new mail order husband, Daniel, via the widow wagon to start their new life. Daniel seems to love discipline as much as Sophie's deceased husband, much to her dismay and maybe, also to her delight! The erotic story that follows was classic Michaels with lots of butt tanning punishments and me wiggling in my seat. While I didn't feel the western aspect of the novel added anything to the story it didn't detract either. I was pleasantly entertained throughout.


Johanna – ☆☆☆
This should of been aptly named the spanking! Have a spanking fetish....please seek this book. It has all the spanking you will ever need written on numerous pages about...spankings. Very little plot as this book kills off one husband in colonial times and widow seeks a new one by mail order bride. Panty combustible if your deviance is spanking. Dominance and order... Three stars of entertainment!

Although it is not often that I veer into historical romance, the blurb on this book had me intrigued. I got a simple romance with undoubtedly hard times thrown in, but mostly of spanking! It was an interesting departure from the normal in control businesswoman cedes to lover scenario. Sophie was a dreamer, and Daniel liked order and rules. There was however always a spark which made it work, and made it an easy read.
