Dawn – ☆☆☆☆
Marissa is a shifter who cannot shift and has been treated as an outcast her whole life.

She is invited to her sister’s mating, where she meets her sister’s new Alpha, Gage. Sparks fly between the two, but Marissa can't forget her past.

I really liked the characters because Marissa was strong, but not too strong, so I still felt for everything she went through. Gage is a protector through and through, and even though he was a dominant alpha, he still had a soft side.

I will definitely read more of this series.

Crissy Smith lives in Texas with her husband, daughter, and three Labrador retrievers. The three dogs love to curl up under her computer desk and nap while she writes. It doesn't leave a lot of room for her but what's a woman to do?

When not writing or reading, she enjoys hunting, camping and shooting. But she has a girly side too and is addicted to pedicures and coffee.

Ruthie – ☆☆☆☆
This is part of a series, which I have to admit that I have not read before – something I intend to remedy. I enjoyed it as a standalone, although I am sure that there would have been even more depth if I had known the characters already.

The story revolves around a court case, and two 'friends with benefits' who are heavily involved in the case. The main plot is interesting, and the romance is hot, sexy and fulfilling. I liked the outcome of both! The writing is smooth, and the pages almost turned themselves, as I couldn't leave the book until I had finished it. For a relatively short story, I got a lot of enjoyment, and an excellent sense of the place, the people, and the issues that they faced. I will definitely be adding the previous books to my wishlist and look out for future installments.
