Ashiya never wanted much to do with her family's wealth and lifestyle. She loves her shop and how successful she's made it. But when her long-lost grandma leaves everything to her, Ashiya doesn't really know what to do.

Russell vowed to never let someone into this life again after Ashiya used him. He didn't ever want to feel like that again. But when he sees her struggling to figure out where to go when she's handed a company, Russell knows that his heart is more able to forgive than he thought.

As Ashiya navigates a new family's hidden secrets and agendas, Russell visits old wounds that have been left to fester. Together they will tackle each other's problems in the hopes that at the end, they'll have found exactly what they were looking for.

It's a good second-chance story with a lot of moving parts. Stealing, cheating, and lying all come fairly standard in this new company and in the mystery behind Russell's family's mystery. I enjoyed watching them fight for what they wanted and loved watching them find each other again.

This is Elaina’s story and I was very anxious to read it. She seems so cold in the previous books. She is anything but that. She has had to show a ruthlessness about her in the hopes that she will gain her dad’s approval. Let me just say that there is a special place in hell for parents who are like her father.

Alex is just trying to take it a little easy and work on something he’s passionate about. What he isn’t expecting is to be thrust into the middle of a family feud that he wants absolutely no part of.

Alex is able to see past Elaina’s hard crust. He sees how much she cares and how hard she works. I found it incredibly sad and frustrating that her family members were all so cold towards her. Nobody truly knew what she put up with, went through, and nobody cared to ask. I was so mad at everyone in this story except for Elaina.

I could write a novel just on how her family members made me feel, they were so horrible. But the redeeming person in Elaina’s life – herself! She knew how she had been groomed, knew that she was hard on the outside and accepted it all. She liked herself for who she was and didn’t want to become someone she knew to be fake.

Elaina was so strong throughout the story that she made everyone else pale in comparison in terms of their character.

I really enjoyed Elaina’s story, despite her family. I think you’ll see that she’s so much more than she’s portrayed in previous books.

Byron has always been a protector. When he sets his sights on running for office, he knows that it'll be a battle. He has the right political connections, the right family members, and he is on his way. However, a secret from his past is coming back full force and he has to decide how he wants to handle it.

Zoe Hammond is a strong, confident woman and mother. She has figured out that she doesn't need a man to save her, nor does she need her mom's bad advice. When she sees Byron again after a decade, she has to readjust her expectations for her quiet, safe life. Zoe has been receiving threatening emails and has just felt uneasy for a while. When she sees Byron again, she can't help but feel safe when he offers her protection.

Zoe and Byron will have to figure out if their past should stay there or if they should forge ahead and see if their past will help shape their future. This is a well-developed story, but it felt almost too drawn out. There was a lot of history to sort through, so I can appreciate that, but I wish that we would have seen more of the future aspect. Trust is hard for both main characters and while their lives were moving along just fine before they reunited, what if they were to sail along even smoother once they see each other again?

Overall, this is a good story. It is well developed, and you really get to know the characters. It's the second book in the series and while it's not absolutely necessary to read book one, I do suggest it, as the relationships will make more sense. The romance and mystery didn't wow me, but it was a fast read. I do hope I get to see Elaina's story next. She, for me, is by far the most intriguing character.

Travis and India have history.

India has been living her life the way that she wants. She is an amazing violinist and because of that, she has been able to travel with the Transatlantic Orchestra. When she comes home for a brief break after finishing with her current orchestra, the last thing she expects is to come home to a busy house.

India is from a very prominent family. And because of that, certain things are expected of her. But India has never wanted to abide by those family rules. Despite her father’s threats, India packed up and left the safety of the family business.

India’s sister is going to become the CEO of the family business. Travis is her sister’s ex-husband. When her older brother decides to run for office, India is expected to smile, tow the family line, and help with the campaign.

Being in close proximity to Travis again makes India feel things that she knows she shouldn’t. But it also points out exactly what she has been missing.

Travis has his own issues to deal with and while I thought that his back story was somewhat odd, in the end, it makes sense.

I liked watching these two figure out their past, present, and future. They had great chemistry and because of that, you could really feel their dilemma.

I can’t wait to see the next book. It seems like it will be full of dynamic personalities and past decisions that are coming back to haunt everyone.
