Oh, man, I loved this story.

Axel, a fun loving, party hard or go home kind of man who believes hockey is the best thing since sliced bread, has a thing for the cute neighbor next door. A little flirting here and there and a spark was lit. Too bad it was doused by one of his former hook-ups coming back into his life and giving Nora, the neighbor, an all too real picture of what his life was like.

Axel's world is turned upside-down when a former hook-up shows up on his doorstep, in labor, and tells him that a) the baby is his and b) she's giving up her parental rights. Axel doesn't know anything about children much less babies. He's surprised the nurses allow him to take the baby home but he soon finds himself standing in front of Nora's door with the baby snuggled into his chest.

The writer's ability to write about Axel's struggles with being a single dad, the struggle in accepting help from his neighbor who's just slightly more than acquaintance, and how Axel wants to be father that his was.

Nora's story is just as compelling, but it's Axel's that grabbed my attention and held it throughout the book.


Ruthie – ☆☆☆☆
This is the fifth book in the series, and I highly recommend you read them in order as the couples reappear in later books, and add to the story in each installment.

Axel has always hosted all the parties... much to the annoyance of his super sexy, but uninterested neighbour, Nora. Then a complete surprise discovery that he is now a single dad, and he needs Nora for his son more than anything he may desire for himself.

Nora grew up looking after her siblings, and has finally escaped, so even if she had liked her neighbour, she would have been reluctant to help, but circumstances force her hand, and baby Otto is definitely in need of her care.

The inevitable happens, but with a number of fun and engaging twists in the journey. If you enjoy a good sports romance, you will be delighted with the amount of time at games, training, and maybe Nora even watching them at home.

Very enjoyable read with lots of reasons to smile at the blossoming romance and growth of a new family.

This is the fourth book of the series, and I have enjoyed them all. In this one, Wade Grady, undisputed playboy of the hockey team, needs a date to take home for a family wedding.

Harlow has had a truly awful day and, against her better judgment, she has gone out to a club with her best friend, to just let loose for the night. Little did she expect that she would also agree to accompany Grady to a wedding... but as she is between roles at work, why not? Completely out of character, and yet the next morning she resolves to keep her word.

The two of them set off on the journey home and find out as much as they can about each other, so they can pull off the fake relationship. Wade is truly grateful that he will be able to enjoy his time at home, now that he has Harlow with him. Unexpectedly, Harlow turns out to be someone that he finds that he does not want to be without – so now he has to convince her to make it real, permanently. I liked that he was happy to change his views on relationships, even before he knows all about Harlow and her family background. Even the revelation about who her father is does not affect his view of her – something which she has never experienced before, and is incredibly powerful in making her believe he really does care for her.

As Harlow experiences family life, and Wade shows her what passion is really about, the future starts to look brighter... There are still some issues to overcome, but we can have faith in this resulting in an uplifting happily ever after. Thank you, Mira Lyn Kelly, for a really good next installment in the series.

What a cute book. Wade is a genuinely good guy who's NOT looking for a hook-up or a superficial relationship. He doesn't want to give anyone false expectations; however, he does need a date for his brother's wedding. His friends are giving him a hard time and won't pony up a friend, sister, or acquaintance for him to ask to be his date.

Harlow is having a bad day and unwillingly goes along to a club to drown her sorrows. Seeing Wade sitting in the corner and getting heckled by his friends for his lack of a wedding date, she rashly agrees to be his plus one for 10 days for his brother's wedding.

As Wade and Harlow get to know each other, they realize that they really like the other. Harlow's afraid of putting herself out there because if her own family doesn't love her, why would Wade? Wade wants Harlow to take a chance on him and will do everything he can to make her see herself the way that he does.

A bump in the road shows how much Harlow cares about Wade and what's really important to her.

All in all, a great read.

This is the third book in the series and whilst you could read it as a standalone, you would get more of the atmosphere if you read them in order – and they are all well worth the read.

Rux is the one of the fun guys on the team. He is full of life, positive attitude, and super chilled. He has a bestie, Cammy, who has a young son, Matty, and they are as close as close can be, without any limits to what they talk about, and how much time they spend together – but they never crossed the line... or well, okay, maybe once a long time ago, but that has been parcelled up and hidden away. Friendship is far more important than anything else could be... yeah, you can guess how that plan works out!

Cammy's baby daddy left on finding out about the baby, and six years later he has decided it’s time to step up and be a dad. Cammy isn't happy about this, but would not want to deprive Matty of a father, so is going with it – but she is also in his plans and that brings Rux up short.

I loved the amount of hockey that we get to enjoy, and how Rux's distraction regarding Cammy is affecting his thinking and his play. Matty is a really entertaining and important part of the story, but only ever in a good way.

Very enjoyable story, look forward to reading the next in this fun and romantic series.

Unfreakingbelievable.

Ducking around a corner, I press my back to the wall and suck one shaky breath after another until the spots behind my eyes finally clear, along with any wayward thoughts about a third Slayers hockey player needing a bed in the ER.

This is the second book in the series, and I would recommend that you start the series at the beginning as it is so good! Anyone who enjoys a hockey romance should definitely put this on their TBR pile.

Quinn gets his chance at love in this installment, but it's not something he is entirely prepared for and George certainly doesn't make it easy. I am not going to reveal any of the plot lines, as you should experience the goodness directly. But I can guarantee passion, chemistry, fabulous humour, and plenty of hockey. There is a lot of fun to be had when someone really has to work for what they really want, and when one's body isn't in agreement with one's head – makes for some serious heat! I rather like the theme which is developing of there being a prior connection between the couples.

Roll on book three, and thank you for this one, Mira Lyn Kelly.

When I get home, I kick my Chucks into the corner by the closet and look around my empty apartment feeling at loose ends. I don’t trust myself with the replay of the game I just watched. I can’t handle seeing Vaughn Vassar looking at me like that again tonight. Not without risking things neither of us ought to risk.

Sucking in a startled breath, I push to my feet. My heart speeds as that restless feeling in my belly turns into a kind of instinctual pull that draws me to the door.

I don’t have to check to know this isn’t my brother.

It’s not George looking to chat, or Helene showing up with snacks and office gossip.

Not tonight.

My fingers tingle as I reach for the knob, my heart races, and my mind empties of all the reasons this is a mistake. Of everything except the relief surging through my veins as I swing the door open. Vaughn is braced against the frame again. He’s lost the suit jacket, and his big arms are flexed and straining as he barely holds himself back.

“I shouldn’t be here,” he says, the words gravel rough and rubbing against me in ways that only make me want to hear more. “I don’t even have a fucking excuse to check on you.”

“But you came anyway,” I whisper, drinking him in.

“I came anyway.”

The muscle in his jaw jumps over and again as his silver eyes swirl with an intensity that matches the energy coming off him in waves. I shouldn’t be reaching for him, but I don’t think I could stop if I tried. I want this. I want him. My fingers curl into the gap between the buttons of his dress shirt and I tug.

There’s a beat of resistance when he pulls back and our eyes connect—and then he’s launching forward on a growl so savagely possessive, I feel it through the deepest part of me. That big arm I couldn't stop staring at sweeps around me as his mouth crashes against mine in a feral kiss. This isn’t tender or tentative. It’s desperate and hungry and has me half climbing his body before my shoulders hit the door he just swung shut with his foot.

Hands roaming over my thighs and ass, he alternates between gentle and desperate, stroking one second and gripping the next. Making me groan around the thrust of his tongue. Making me rock into that thick, steely ridge lodged between us.

“Allie, tell me this isn’t a mistake.”

I need more of his mouth, more of his kiss. More of his huge chest pressing hot and hard against my own so I can’t feel anything but him. “It’s not a mistake.”

It’s critical. Necessary.

It’s my first full breath in weeks, months. “We just—we just need to get it out of our system. That’s all.”

His nostrils flare, and his eyes burn over me as his hand tightens in my hair. “I don’t think—” But instead of finishing whatever he was going to say, he blows out a harsh breath and gives me a single nod.

And then I have it, the crush of his kiss.

As a big hockey romance fan, I was delighted to get a chance to review this first book in a new series – and has so much promise that I have hopes for a long run.

Vaughn has been traded and wants out ASAP... but in the meantime, he has to keep his head down. So fighting with his captain, and discovering that the one who got away was said captain's sister, is not a great start to his campaign to get traded out again. I love how we get to see the outer shell of Vaughn, but also get a chance to see who he is deep down in this fun and sexy romance. We have to believe that the chaos will be resolved, but wow there are plenty of challenges to keep these two apart.

Allie (aka Natalie) has truly had a thing for Vaughn since they were both teenagers, so we can easily imagine how she could not resist the temptation back in Vancouver. Now that they are living in the same city it is a little more complicated to deal with the complication of being attracted to him. She has always lived in her brother's shadow, and just for once she wants to have something special for herself – even if it is going to hurt when Vaughn inevitably leaves town.

So, many secret, intensely passionate encounters later... well, you will have to read it to find out! But I can tell you it will be well worthwhile.
