Will they be able to resist each other? Or does fate have other plans?

From New York Times bestselling author Kristen Proby comes a new age-gap, workplace romance set in her beloved Single in Seattle series!

Derek Langley can’t keep an assistant to save his life. He’s grumpy, demanding, and sometimes mean, which mirrors his reputation in court. Derek doesn’t have time to coddle an employee, so when the temp agency informs him their next placement will be the last, he knows he’s doomed.

Maya Sterling is excited to move to Seattle. She wants to be closer to her siblings and her new friends, and a position with a temp agency fits the bill for her new life in the city. She doesn’t plan on walking in and finding a sexy British grouch for a boss, but his gruff nature doesn’t really bother her. In fact, she’s attracted to his rough-around-the-edges nature.

They quickly realize the attraction is mutual and steam up the office. But Maya’s position with Derek is temporary, and she knows she must maintain a professional distance to preserve her sanity.

Will they be able to resist each other? Or does fate have other plans?

Excerpt

“So, why does Gray think your boss is a jerk?” Liv asks me as we walk into the department store.

“I don’t think he’s a jerk, but I’ve only known him for a week.”

Sidney scowls at me. “Why would Gray think that, then?”

“I guess Derek has a reputation for being hard to work for.” I shrug and hold up a navy-blue dress, but Stella takes it out of my hands and puts it back on the rack.

“That’s for someone in their sixties,” she informs me, shaking her head.

“Thanks. Anyway, I admit Derek can be abrupt and short, but he doesn’t bother me. At least not so far.”

I glance over at Liv, who’s watching me.

“What?”

“I’m telling you, you like him,” she says, narrowing her eyes.

“Look—”

“He doesn’t just not bother you. You’re hot for him.”

“Is he attractive?” Sidney asks, reaching for her phone. “Hell, I’ll google him. What’s his name?”

“Derek Langley,” I reply and bite my lip. This is fun. And a little nerve-racking. “He’s British. So, he does have a sexy accent.”

“Oh,” Sid says, turning the phone so the others can see. “Yeah, he’s fucking attractive.”

Hot,” Stella agrees. “Dang, Maya, you should go for it. Wait, is he married?”

“He doesn’t wear a ring.” I consider that, tapping my finger on my chin. “Of course, not everyone does. I don’t think he’s married.”

“I can’t find any evidence of a wife,” Sidney says, tapping on her phone some more. “Unless it’s recent.”

“He’s my boss,” I reply, shaking my head. “Sure, there’s some chemistry there, but I work for him. I don’t think that’s ethical.”

I’ve caught him looking at my lips several times, and when we stand close together, he shoves his hands in his pockets as if he’s restraining himself to keep from touching me.

But maybe that’s all just in my head.

“You said yourself it’s only a thirty-day assignment,” Liv says, waving me off. “I say take those thirty days and have fun with them.”

“We’re going straight to the lingerie department,” Stella decides.

“You guys.” I laugh but don’t stop them from pulling me to the intimates section, where they choose lots of lacy, silky, beautiful things for me to try. “What if I’m being silly, and he wants no part in anything sexy with me?”

“Number one, he’d be stupid,” Sid says. “And number two, if he’s not interested, someone else will be.”

“You have a point. Okay, let’s do this.”

“The weekend was long. I worked and did my best to keep busy, but I kept thinking about a certain assistant who had suddenly taken up room in my mind.”

This is book 5.5 in the Single in Seattle series, and also another 1001 Dark Nights in the series; it is fun to get these short novellas to give us a quick fix between longer reads – and this is one is fun and frenetic.

The unexpected chemistry between the grumpy, rude lawyer, Derek, and the calm, unfazed Maya burns the pages. Of course things will not run smoothy because he is not really able to process what is happening to his very nature now that he has met her – and Maya is so wonderfully unflappable, and so in tune with her own needs, that we are treated to a whirlwind of a romance.

It is great to catch up with previous couples, two of which, of course, involve Maya's siblings, and the epilogue is really delicious and funny!

This is a super quick, cute story about Derek and Maya.

Maya is coming home after spending some time in Europe and once she realizes that no matter what her parents say, they want her to move to Seattle and follow her heart; she goes to Seattle. Maya is still figuring out what she truly wants from her life, so she goes through a temp agency to find a job.

Derek is known for being a grump. He has a difficult time keeping help because of his brusque demeanor and sometimes downright mean words. He knows it's something he should work on, but he just can't seem to find the time.

When Maya walks into Derek's office, there is instant chemistry. These two have to figure out how to work together while keeping each other at a pleasant friendship distance. Despite their attraction, both know that mixing business and pleasure can lead to disasters.

Will Maya thaw Derek's icy demeanor or will she throw in the towel and find another way? This is a super quick read that will have you smiling.

“You’re bloody gorgeous and as soon as I get back to this office, I’m going to show you exactly what I want to do to you in those heels.”

London Ambrose is a spoiled billionaire’s daughter. And now she’s the new co-owner of the Seattle football team, but that doesn’t mean that she knows diddly squat about football.

There’s nothing I hate more than having someone micromanaging me, shadowing my every move, and giving me their two cents on Every. Little. Thing. as I coach MY defensive line.

I love this family. This is the series that just keeps on giving.

When Drew finds himself coaching at his young age, he can't help but feel proud of himself. He loves what he does. What he doesn't love is having a team owner who cares of uniforms and micromanages stuff.

London knows what people see when they look at her. Spoiled, non-football owner. However, London knows she's smart and knows that she'll work her tail off for this team. So what if people don't trust her right away? She knows she's doing the work and will gain their trust. But when London's old flame comes sniffing around again, London can't help but be frustrated with the double standard her father has.

When Drew saves London from a disastrous encounter with her ex, their fake relationship will take on a life of its own. Drew will embark on a path he never saw himself going down and London will learn that sometimes, the risk is worth it.

You will fall in love with these characters and will want to read this series from the first book.

She’s a billionaire in her early thirties and is absolutely stunning, but she drives me fucking crazy.

The Setup by Kristen Proby Release Blitz

From New York Times bestselling author Kristen Proby comes an all-new novel, The Setup, in her Single in Seattle series, featuring Keaton Williams!

I’m a sucker for pretty things. Give me a roaring engine in a souped-up vintage muscle car with cherry red paint and brand-new leather interior, and that’s about as pretty as anything I could ask for. I’m a simple man, who doesn’t need or want the kind of wild celebrity that my father has. I restore one-of-a-kind vehicles and sell them to the highest bidder. Usually, that bidder just also happens to be a celebrity.

But no matter how often my cars steal the spotlight, staying out of it is my number one priority.

Which is why Sydney Sterling is absolutely out of the question.

She’s a country music superstar. She’s in the spotlight. People can’t get enough of her.

It doesn’t matter that our one night together was hotter than a full throttle muscle car, or that she’s the most incredible woman I’ve ever met.

I. Need. To. Stay. Away.

And I was doing a great job of just that until our friends set us up on a blind date, and now here I am, sitting across from the only woman who made me want more. How am I going to handle the fact that the rest of the world wants her almost as much as I do?

And do I even have a choice in the matter?

Keaton is living his best life. He loves the cars that he works on. He loves his clients. He loves his family. Keaton's business is booming, and he loves to hunt for rare cars to restore. When he shows up for a blind date, he does not expect that his secret hookup is the one to be set up with him.

Sydney is trying to find her light again. After her record label decided not to reup her contract, Sydney knows that she needs a break. When she meets up with her friends again, she knows that it's exactly what she needed. From seeing her friends, singing just for fun, and, not to mention, hooking up with Keaton again.

Keaton is someone you want to slap against the head occasionally. He seems to have a big head about himself and worries entirely too much about his life, and where it's going and who is in it.

Sydney and Keaton have a more Young Adult chemistry, but Sydney is a character that you're going to love. Keaton was more of a fungus that grew on you but wasn't something you loved right away.

Overall, this is a sweet story about letting go, moving forward, and showing the world that you only need to believe in yourself.

An all-new meet-cute sports romance from New York Times and Wall Street Journal bestselling author Kristen Proby, featuring Sophie Montgomery!

I have millions of followers on social media, and it has absolutely nothing to do with my last name. It’s because I’m good at what I do. I work hard, and it has paid off.

I’m not a trainer who only talks the talk, either. I walk the walk—or rather, I run the run. It was actually during one of those jogs through the park that I ran into him.

Of course, at the time, I didn’t realize it was the Isaiah “Ike” Harrison, Seattle’s hot new quarterback. All I knew was that I was suddenly pinned under some solid, sexy body, unable to breathe.

But even now, I keep running into Ike in the most unexpected places.

And he’s doing everything in his power to convince me that he’s not just a player—in any form of the word.

It’s so much more than that.

But I’ve been there, done that. I have the mended broken heart to prove it and have no intention of doing it again.

Except the frustrating man is convincing, and my walls are quickly lowering—especially when I feel responsible for possibly upending his career.

Is letting him in a mistake? Or will it be the best thing I’ve ever done?

Sophie is doing just great in her life. She loves her family and her career. And while it's sad how she decided to go into nutrition, she's proud of the brand that she's created. Living her best life, she literally runs into Ike, a new Seattle football player. The attraction is quite instant.

Ike is loving playing for Seattle and knows that he has what it takes to take his team to the championship. But he has family weight that he isn't quite sure how to cut. With his team in the off season, Ike is welcomed into the family by Will, a mentor and friend. What Ike doesn't know is that the beauty he literally ran into is Will's niece.

With Ike and Sophie allowing their attraction to grow, both will have to navigate their new relationship, family issues that resemble what Meg (previous With Me in Seattle book) went through, and a snake in the grass who wants their relationship to fail, Sophie's family and Ike's love will have to find a new path.

I truly love this spin-off series of the original. You would not be disappointed reading the original series and this one. And while this book can be read as a standalone, I recommend you read them all.

The Scandal by Kristen Proby Release Blitz

The Scandal by Kristen Proby. Available Now.

The Scandal is an all-new marriage of convenience, age-gap novel from New York Times bestselling author Kristen Proby, set in her Single in Seattle Series, featuring Stella McKenna!

Who knew that weddings in Vegas were the real deal? I certainly didn’t when I agreed to marry my co-worker while on a bender in Sin City. Now, I need a quick annulment, which means I need an attorney, STAT.

Honestly, with a name like Grayson Sterling, Esquire, I expected an old man in a three-piece suit. But the guy behind the desk is anything but stuffy and old. Tall and sexy with tattoos and striking blue eyes, I simply can’t take my eyes off him, and I have no intention of declining his offer of a date… and more. So much more!

The conversation between us is good, and the man should win awards for his bedroom escapades. I find myself trusting him in ways I never thought I would—until he breaks that trust.

Gray insists he can fix it.

He claims he loves me.

But I don’t know if we can survive this.

I have loved the With Me in Seattle series forever and now, we get to read about all the kids!

Stella is a powerhouse. She is strong, intelligent, confident, and above all, a loyal friend. She loves her family and despite not having someone to love, is happy for everyone around her who does. When she finds herself in need of a lawyer, her friend has the perfect suggestion.

Gray knows what he wants and isn't afraid to go after it. When his business partner asks for a favor, Gray doesn't hesitate. He's used to taking charge in and out of business. And despite not having a special someone, he hasn't lost hope.

When Stella and Gray meet for the first time, sparks shoot across the room. Not only are these two very beautiful people, but they are also confident people. While these characters are strong apart, they are infinitely stronger surrounded by their friends and family.

It's fun to watch Stella and Gray navigate this more uncertain area of their lives. And while I wouldn't necessarily think the situation is a scandal within the book, I did love this story.

I can't wait for more! These are hilarious, sexy, and fun.

The limelight couldn’t touch us.

But now, at twenty-five, I’m ready to start my life, working for my father’s production company in downtown Seattle—until Vaughn Barrymore walks through the door.

I absolutely couldn’t wait for this new series. If you haven’t read the With Me in Seattle series, run and get them!

In this series, you get the see the kids all grown up and it’s just as fun and filled with hilarity as their parents’ books.

Vaughn has grown up in the spotlight. He knows that the public eye can be brutal and has grown a thick skin to make sure he can withstand it. When he makes a horrid first impression on his new set with the costume designer, Vaughn isn’t too concerned. She’s pretty and he is used to getting whatever he wants. After all, he is a movie star who everyone loves.

Olivia has grown up around celebrities but lived a very sheltered life. Her dad made sure to keep his chicken out of the spotlight and safe in their house. When she starts working with her dad on movies as a costume designer, she wants people to know that she made it on her own.

Vaughn and Olivia have a strong attraction, but Olivia is sheltered, and Vaughn just wants what he wants. Can these two figure out how to be together when they come from such different backgrounds? You’ll be laughing and glad that you read this. I can’t wait for more!

I did not read the previous books, but you can tell how much these women mean. This is Mackenzie's story and she was an awesome character.

Mackenzie is struggling with finding someone she feels connected to. She is also trying very hard to feel happy for her friends, who have found their person.

While she is trying to "get back out there," as her friends call it, none other than Gideon shows up. After breaking her heart a few days before their wedding, Mackenzie is hurt, angry, and sad. Even years later, she can't help but feel something for Gideon, despite what he's done.

Mackenzie's friends... well, I loved them. They were fierce, loyal, and most of all, they were forgiving. I loved how they made Gideon work for it. They were not going to just allow him to come back and re-injure their friend again.

I think where this story falls a little short is with her dating scenes. I know that she did try to get out there, but it felt very strange – almost like high school dating scenes. Maybe that was because deep down she knew they weren't right, but I also felt there was just something not quite right.

Overall, this was a sweet story about second chances, redemption, and love. I really enjoyed it and felt that Herrmann did an amazing job at weaving through what could have been a very angst filled story without going overboard.

Gloria Herrmann is a contemporary romance author living in beautiful eastern Washington. All of her books have been set in Washington and she is proud to show readers how gorgeous her state is.

An avid reader and lover of words, becoming an author has been a dream come true for her. She still pinches herself all the time and wonders how she got so lucky.

Gloria remembers her mom giving her a paperback romance novel when she was a teenager. It was a pretty exciting book, filled with suspense, love, and an overall excellent storyline. That was it. She was hooked. Gloria began to devour these romance stories that varied over the years from sweet to sultry, consuming thousands of books and stories. Each time she finished reading a novel, the desire to write her own grew stronger. As ideas for books were born, her go to genre was contemporary romance. Why romance? She simply loves it. That’s why she writes it. What is there not to love about falling in love and finding that special person to share your life with? Who doesn’t wish for a little passion, butterflies fluttering in your stomach, and that happily ever after? In Gloria’s eyes, that’s what it’s all about.
