Where It Begins by Helena Hunting Release Blitz

Single dad, hockey coach, and the last guy this single mom should fall for.

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Helena Hunting comes a new story in her Pucked series. The untold story of Skye and Sidney, and the origin story where Vi and Miller are teens when their parents start dating and fall in love…

I accidentally grabbed the wrong drink at the coffee shop. On the upside, the hot guy it belonged to chased me down to kindly swap with me. On the down side, the reason I grabbed the wrong drink in the first place is because the hot guy had just caught me checking out his ass…sets.

In my defense, his rear view is rather magnificent.

In true, humiliating form, I word-vomited a bunch of horrible nonsense. Including an unnecessary explanation of the trauma I’d evaded thanks to his chasing me down. Nothing could ruin my lactose-intolerant day faster than my one true nemesis: dairy.

I did not expect him to ask me out on a date after that.

I also didn’t expect the date to go well since my tendency to truth-vomit is high, and not everyone finds that quality endearing.

But apparently he does. Because he asks me out again.
And again.

Sidney Butterson (yes, it’s a weird last name) ticks all my boxes.
He's smart, he's funny, he's employed and he's ridiculously hot.
There’s one catch.

We’re both single parents. With teens.

And if our kids don’t like each other?
Well, we’re doomed.

Excerpt

Hubert, the barista, calls out, “Skye and Sidney! Your lattes are ready!”

I rush forward and grab mine, muttering a hasty, “Thanks!” Then beeline for the exit. Of course, that’s the moment a hoard of teens barrel through the door, forcing me to hold it open until the entire gaggle has stormed the café.

Once outside, I hustle to the crosswalk. I punch the button and glare as the sign counts down from thirty.

And then I hear my name being called.

I glance toward the café and, much to my horror, the attractive man whose butt I was admiring is rushing toward me, coffee in hand.

“Hey! You’re Skye, right?” he asks.

“Yes. That’s me.” Maybe he didn’t mind my checking out his butt.

“You took the wrong coffee.” He taps the side of the cup with the name SKYE written in Larissa’s lovely cursive.

“Oh.” I turn mine around and see Sidney scrawled on the side. And it’s a pumpkin spice latte. Half sweet, skim milk. “Wow. I would have spent the rest of the afternoon working from a bathroom stall if you hadn’t caught me.” At his questioning expression, I continue with the embarrassing word vomit. “I’m lactose intolerant and this much dairy would mean stomach cramps for days.” I bite my lips together and close my eyes. “Sorry. You didn’t need to know that. I haven’t taken a sip. See. No lipstick prints.” I thrust the cup toward him and reluctantly crack a lid.

He’s smiling. Widely. “I’m very glad I caught you when I did then. I wouldn’t want to be responsible for an afternoon of prolonged discomfort.”

We exchange takeout cups. “It would’ve been my fault for not checking more than the S, but I was trying to escape my embarrassment. Seems like it’s following me around and making things worse.” I step away from this exceptionally hot man who inspires an unprecedented amount of word vomit. “Thank you for stopping me. You, uh...you didn’t drink out of mine, did you?”

“I didn’t.” His eyes are blue. So vibrant and pretty and his teeth are straight. I glance at his hand. His ring finger is bare. Then I realize he’s giving my hand the same inspection. “Do you work around here?”

“Just across the street.” I thumb over my shoulder. “You?”

“No, but I’m in the area often.” He tucks a hand in his pocket. “Maybe you’d like to grab a coffee later this week?”

I blink at him. Then open my mouth and ask a stupid question. “Are you asking me out?”

“Unless you’re already seeing someone. I didn’t see a ring, so I was hopeful.” His bottom lip slides through his teeth and for a moment, he looks boyishly handsome.

“But… you don’t know anything about me.” I don’t know why I haven’t said yes yet. He’s attractive and thoughtful enough to stop me from drinking the wrong coffee. His kindness saved me from ending up curled in the fetal position on a bathroom floor.

He rubs the back of his neck. “I’ve seen you here before. I’ve been working up the nerve to introduce myself. Looks like the universe gave me a push in the right direction.” He holds up a hand and gives his head a little shake. “I’m probably making this awkward. I’ll be here Wednesday at eleven-thirty. Hopefully, I’ll see you then.” And with that, he turns and disappears into the crowd.

He’s living up to the jock stereotype in spectacular fashion.

I love the 1001 Dark Nights books because they give newbies a glimpse of the goodness of a series, and for series fans, it is a bonus episode which brings back all the feels. This particular story was just the icing on the cake – and I just know that I am going to be going back to my Kindle and going back to book one as I had forgotten just how funny Vi was!

I have one piece of advice when you read this book – try and be somewhere where you will not be embarrassed when you laugh out loud! I was sat in a coffee shop reading with friends, and of course my friends wanted to know what I was laughing at... and I really couldn't explain... but let's just say, I will never look at calamari the same way again!

Skye and her word vomits are just so, so funny, and in a professional woman whose daughter is in high school, is clearly something she is not likely to grow out of – lucky Sidney!!

I plan on saying no more, as really you need to read it to get the impact of it all, but I promise it is absolutely lovely from the very first page. Skye is a total hero as a mother, and as passionate a woman that any man could wish for. Sidney is a dreamboat of a man too – and I loved his reactions to her honesty, perfect!

Just thinking about this book makes me smile – I am sure you will be laughing too!

Hot men who help little old ladies are apparently a real turn on.

Forever Pucked by Helena Hunting

Being engaged to Alex Waters, team captain and the highest paid NHL player in the league, is awesome. How could it not be?

In addition to being an amazing hockey player, he’s an incurable romantic with an XL heart, and an XXL hockey stick in his pants. And he knows how to use it. Incredibly, orgasmically well. Alex is the whole package and more. Literally. Like his package is insane. Total world record holder material.

So it makes complete sense that Violet Hall can’t wait to nail him down to the matrimonial mattress and become Mrs. Violet Waters.

It’s so romantic.

Violet is totally stoked to set a date.

Eventually. At some point. Likely before the next millennium. Or when Violet stops getting hives every time someone brings up the wedding, and their mothers stop colluding on stadium sized venues. Whichever comes first.

This series is just awesome, I loved Forever Pucked just as much as the previous three books in the series! This is a quirky read and I’d definitely recommend at least reading book one, Pucked, before diving into Forever Pucked.

Alex and Violet met and fell in love in Pucked and now they’re planning their wedding… or trying to. Only problem? Violet breaks out in hives every time someone so much as mentions tying the knot. Violet and Alex want a small wedding with just their close friends and family, their mothers on the other hand want it to be huge with hundreds in attendance. In the meantime, Violet’s career is really taking off while Alex is managing to get himself into trouble on the ice and the balance that the two have managed with their respective careers is thrown for a loop and has us wondering if they're going to survive!

My favorite part of this read was the fact that we get more of not only Alex and Violet but the rest of the gang too! Plus, as usual, Helena Hunting does a fantastic job of mixing just the right amount of mystery, romance, and hilarity…with a focus on hilarity, I seriously had tears streaming down my face from laughter at several different points in this book.

This entire series is one I definitely recommend you check out!

I would definitely recommend that you have read the first book in the series – but really, why would you not read them all! I have to say that depending on what you have most recently read, you may need to give it a few pages to get into Ms. Hunting's style. There is no subtlety of language or conversation between these crazy friends. After a chapter or two, one becomes so engaged with the madness that it is no longer so surprising!

Violet has such a fear of spoiling her own wedding, that she really can't cope with the idea, even if being married to her fiancé, Alex, is exactly what she wants. As events on the hockey rink make her reevaluate what is important, and she talks more with her girlfriends who are also all loved up, she reconciles her desires with her fears and agrees to move forward. The scenes with the Mothers, the hairspray and…well, just so many wonderful, fun and cute dialogues, then add in some hot and cheeky sessions, and plenty of laugh out loud moments to make this a really enjoyable read.

I can tell you that Ms. Hunting delivers, and I am looking forward to seeing what she writes next.

Forever Pucked is the continuation of Violet and Alex's story. The ride to their wedding is a hilarious journey. Of course there is the inappropriateness which is expected, especially at this point in the series. There is some drama, some sexiness and it all boils down to one fun read.

I loved getting more of Violet and Alex. They are definitely one of my favorite couples. Violet's hives, and their mother's adding their two cents makes for great wedding planning issues. The biggest issue any couple has is how to bring their two lives into one without losing themselves in the process and Violet and Alex are no different. Alex wants to take care of Vi but he knows Vi's job is one of the top priorities in her life.

This series was one of my favorites. The sexual innuendos are laugh out loud funny. It's sweet and just a fun series to read. Hunting doesn't disappoint in Forever Pucked. Highly recommended series if you enjoy laughing your way through a read!

Pucked Over by Helena Hunting

Lily LeBlanc isn’t versed in the art of casual sex, but after seven years in an on-again, off-again relationship, she’s definitely willing to give it a shot. And who better to try it with than her best friend’s boyfriend’s best friend? What could possibly go wrong?

NHL player, Randy Ballistic, lives up to his last name on the ice and in the bedroom. His best friend and teammate has recently given up the puck bunnies and traded them in for a real girlfriend. And she just happens to have a seriously feisty, extra-hot best friend on the rebound. Randy’s more than happy to be Lily’s spring board back into the dating scene.

But casual sex is only casual until those pesky things called emotions get involved. Once that happens, someone’s bound to get pucked over.

Helena Hunting is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. Her writing is amazing, her stories are always fast paced, and I always laugh my ass off.

Randy Ballistic is Buck’s best friend and Lily is Sunny’s best friend and we got to know them in Pucked Up. The two had a “thing” at Alex’s cabin and then when Lily thought that Randy was on to a new girl she went crazy and sharpied all his boxers. This book takes up right where we left off with Pucked Up, neither able to get the other off their minds. Lily is determined to avoid Randy at all costs because of embarrassment from her crazy act at the cabin. She takes to hiding in a bathroom but that doesn’t deter Randy at all and they end up having their first bathroom sex encounter. I say first because that is kind of their “thing” in this book and it’s pretty hilarious.

This book is definitely a 10 on the hot-o-meter for steamy sex scenes. It has a fast pace, you won’t want to put it down once you begin reading and their humor is on point. I can’t wait to see what Helena Hunting releases next.

A Fun and Flirty 4.5*

I have to admit that I am late to the 'Pucked' party, and this is the first that I have read – but was reassured by the promise that they are standalones. Well, having read this one, I shall be making a space in my reading list to read the other two as soon as possible! A sports romance with humour mixed in perfect measure.

This is a really well plotted book – it works from beginning to end in so many ways. All the characters move forward, we get enough information when we need it, no extraneous detail, plenty of humour – in fact lots and lots of humour, some overt, some subtle – all in fun, even if at exactly the wrong moment at times! I loved the lead characters, obviously wanted them to wake up to themselves – but their friends were not judgmental, mostly they were supportive. The guys were not given to being emotional, but when they were, it followed a conversation with their girlfriends, so was believable. There is wonderful, fun chemistry, which Randy and Lily really don't know to deny, nor accept – but thankfully they go with the flow, much to the benefit of the readers.

This is on my reread list, no doubt to be joined by the rest of the series, and I will be checking if there are any other Ms. Hunting’s books which I have not yet read.

Shannan☆☆☆☆
Lily is just getting out of a relationship and well, she's horny. A hook-up is exactly what she needs and hooking up with the manwhore himself is even better. Lily and Randy have a fast hot hook-up. He never expects anything else. He's the rebound, he gets it, but he can't stop thinking about Lily. Lily, in turn, can't stop thinking about Randy. It's the reformed manwhore story but with a humorous twist.

The crude humor, the inappropriateness is spot on. With each Pucked book, Ms. Hunting is outdoing herself. This has to be my favorite though. Randy and his man bun are a perfect combination. I love the insecurities that pop up, makes the read more real.

Can't wait to see what comes next.

Pucked Up by Helena Hunting

Miller “Buck” Butterson has been banging his way through life ever since a puck to the face fixed his messed up front teeth. After five years in the NHL, deflecting goals on the ice and scoring them with puck bunnies, Miller has decided he’s ready for a girlfriend. A real, non-bunny girlfriend to take on dates, and not jump into bed with after five seconds of conversation.

Miller thinks he’s found that woman in his teammate’s sister. Except, unlike team captain and all-around nice guy Alex Waters—who happens to date his stepsister, Miller’s media reputation as a manwhore is well earned. Beyond that minor detail, Miller doesn’t know the first thing about relationships or the time and effort they require.

Miller learns—eventually—that if he wants to make Sunshine “Sunny” Waters fall for him, he's going to have to do a whole lot more than show her his stick skills in the bedroom.

Shannan☆☆☆☆☆
I read this as a standalone without reading Pucked first, without issue, but I am kicking myself for not starting this series earlier.

I laughed out loud more times than I care to mention. The cringe worthy situations Miller kept getting himself into. Pucked Up is hilarious, but it's also sweet and touching. Miller "Buck" Butterson is a player, a manwhore. The media has played him as such. He has more selfies taken with "bunnies" than a lot of the other hockey players. The only issue is he's given it all up for Sunny. He's trying to stay faithful but getting caught on camera in compromising positions doesn't look good for him. Her brother Alex is on his team and engaged to his stepsister, he doesn't think Miller is good enough for Sunny. Sunny is tired of putting up with Miller's behavior. Can they make a relationship work, especially one that is long distance? Can he show her that being in a relationship is what he wants?

This is my first read by Ms. Hunting and I can assure you it won't be my last. Her writing draws you in, you get so invested in the characters. Once you are drawn in add the humor, the feels and it's a great story. I can't wait to see what happens in Pucked Over and you can bet I will be going back to read Pucked now that I know what a fantastic series this is.
