Pieces of Us by N.R. Walker

This is the final installment in this series and is not a standalone. Reading further will contain spoilers.

As Justin's recovery moves forward, Dallas dares to hope their lives are settling into their new normal. His money worries have eased, business is picking up, and best of all, Justin now laughs more than he frowns.

Justin's memory still eludes him, but with each snippet or flashback, small pieces of his old life start to slot into place. He remembers more of Dallas and how perfectly happy their lives used to be, and with each passing day, Justin realises he can have that again.

But when someone from Justin's past turns up, he discovers that not all the missing pieces are good, and sadly, he and Dallas also learn just what it means to live with a traumatic brain injury. If Dallas and Justin have to fight for their Happily Ever After, then Dallas will stop at nothing—nothing—to give Justin the life he always wanted.

". . . as I tried to put the puzzle of myself back together, it was the pieces of us that made me whole."

Juss got up from his seat and sat on my lap. I had to pull my chair out a bit so he could fit, but he just sat right down and put his arm around my shoulder, his forehead pressed to mine. “Remember how you said we choose our own family?”

I nodded.

“Well, I’ve chosen mine.” He kissed me soundly. Then he picked up my fork and stabbed some meat and brought it to my lips. “Open wide.”

I laughed and he shoved the fork in my mouth. “You’re gonna feed me?” I asked.

“For all the times you helped me, now it’s your turn.”

He continued to feed me until my plate was empty and he even had some more of his own. It was fun and cute, we laughed a lot, and it had been far too long since we’d done anything fun and cute. The fact that he punctuated every forkful with a kiss made it even better.

He put the fork down and turned his full attention to me. “You know,” he said with a kiss. “I slept a lot today, so I’m not too tired.”

I chuckled because I was pretty sure I knew where he was going with this. “Is that so?”

He kissed me again, a little softer, more playful. “And we did get those test results back.”

I hummed, not too sure if he was up for anything rigorous. “You’re supposed to be on bed rest.”

He smiled. “So take me to bed.”

Oh my goodness! I just love Justin and Dallas. Their love is so strong and so wonderful. You have to read the previous two books. At the end of the second book, I was happy but wanted more. I had no idea there would be a third book. I devoured it in one night. This love story was so sweet, they both went through so much but came out even stronger. I highly recommend this series.

Sarah☆☆☆☆☆
I have loved every moment of this series. This third book brings readers to the end of Justin and Dallas’ story – or perhaps it’s more accurate to say that it brings readers to the start of the next chapter in their lives together.

I loved seeing Justin becoming more himself as his recovery progresses. In this third book, we get to see more of his personality and his humour. I also loved seeing him and Dallas falling in love all over again. And I really love that Justin’s recovery continues to be a slow, often frustrating process. His progress and his setbacks feel realistic. But Dallas and Justin are inspiring together, and I love Dallas’ unflinching commitment to Justin, even when things are pretty bleak. While the subject matter is sometimes dark, this book is the lightest and most hopeful of the three. It is also the book where Justin and Dallas start to explore their sexual relationship again.

I think this has been my favourite series of 2020. I love Justin and Dallas and I love their relationship as it evolves through the series. I love that this is a story about a settled, long term couple and I love the combination of gritty realism and unconditional love.

Veronica☆☆☆☆
Pieces of Us was a joy to read. While Justin isn't completely out of the woods health wise, things are on the improve. Pieces of Us is about our couple working their way towards their happily ever after. These men live a simple life. They enjoy their work, their friends, and most of all, they love spending time together just doing everyday things, and I enjoyed the domesticity. There are still some ups and downs on the way to happiness, but it is all worth it as the ending is lovely.

Dallas and Justin have been through so much trauma, seeing them get their lives back on track was wonderful. I have loved reading Dallas and Justin's journey over the last few months, and I would highly recommend the Missing Pieces trilogy.

Pieces of Me by N.R. Walker

Justin's recovery is slow, but any step forward is a win in Dallas' eyes. Having always been a source of strength for Justin, even before the accident, Dallas is trying to find his feet again as he struggles to get some normalcy back in their lives.

But now, with added financial pressures and Justin's ongoing medical needs, Dallas isn't sure how much longer he can be the strong one.

As missing pieces of Justin's memory return, Justin realises the physical side of their relationship is another piece of the puzzle he desperately wants to put back together. And as he gets to know Dallas all over again, he realises what his mind can't remember, his heart can't forget.

You must read the first book because this one picks up right where it left off. Holy crap on a cracker! I bawled my eyes out reading the first book, and I was on pins and needles through this book. Ugh... I just love Dallas so much; he is such a great guy. Justin has made progress and I couldn't wait to see how things ended. I honestly wanted more. I want to see more of their life, they are so good together. I want to read these books again and relive this wonderful relationship. Hands down, one of my top five for this story type.

The second Missing Pieces book is just as brilliant and just as heart wrenching as the first story. At the start of the story, Justin is home but increasingly frustrated with his memory loss and the slow recovery from his physical injuries. And while Dallas is relieved to have Justin home, he is starting to panic about outstanding bills and the strain their absences have placed on his business.

It sounds bleak – but as with the first book, the impossible situations the men face are offset by the humour and hope that underscore both books. I admit to crying a few times – but I’m pretty sure they were happy tears. There is something about the contrast between Dallas and Justin’s very ordinary lives and their intense devotion to each other that makes just about anything seem possible.

I love that there aren’t any miracles during Justin’s recovery. And I love that he gets angry and frustrated and he lashes out at Dallas. In this second book, we get to know the other people in Dallas and Justin’s lives and I love the growing community that surrounds the couple.

These books are two of my favourites of 2020. I have loved Dallas and Justin’s story and I’m kinda hoping we get a third book. The writing is beautiful and the characters and their story is very special.

Justin is now at home and Dallas is helping him with his recovery. Dallas is also dealing with running his business and issues with money as he awaits to hear from his insurance company. He is carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders. But he continues to show what a great guy he is by putting Justin’s needs first and it seems Dallas can’t do a thing wrong. Even Justin thinks so.

Pieces of Me focuses on the relationship between Justin and Dallas, their home life, and Justin’s recovery. I loved seeing this couple spending time together doing basic things – snuggled on the couch, enjoying cuddles and kisses, and even doing mundane tasks. After the trauma Justin and Dallas have been through, seeing them enjoy the simple things in life is lovely.

Even though Justin and Dallas have some real struggles in Pieces of Me, I found this to be a warm and comforting read. I look forward to reading Pieces of Us, the conclusion of this love story.

Pieces of You by N.R. Walker

Dallas Muller has everything he never expected he’d have. He owns a successful motorbike mechanic shop in Newcastle, and he’s madly in love with his boyfriend of four years, Justin Keith.

Justin has always struggled to find where he fit in, never realising his true worth or what it means to be loved—until he met Dallas. Living and working together might be too much for some, but Dallas and Justin wouldn’t have it any other way.

When a terrible accident tears their world apart, Justin’s left with no memory of Dallas or their relationship. Trying to put the pieces back together is almost impossible when some pieces are blank and some are missing altogether. Dallas has to let Justin find his own way back to him and just hope that their love will light the way.

When I was reading Pieces of You and felt the emotions of the story in my whole body not just my heart. I cried so many times. Not big ugly noisy crying but quiet tears that barely stopped before they started up again. My heart broke over and over again for Dallas as he did his best to support Justin, who has woken up from an accident with no memory of the past five years – no memory of his boyfriend, Dallas.

I had no idea going in I would connect so strongly with Dallas and his struggle to support the man he loves, a man who doesn't remember him. As a happily married woman, Dallas' situation is the kind of horror I don't think I could image but the man shines. He is so strong and amazing. No matter how difficult it is, he loves Justin and supports him completely. Dallas' love for Justin always shines through and it is so beautiful.

I didn't want this story to end. I wanted more time with Justin and Dallas, we didn't get nearly enough. I hope the author doesn't make us wait too long for more. This gets five amazing, emotional stars from me.

Sarah☆☆☆☆☆
This is the wonderfully tender story of two mechanics whose relationship is tested when one partner suffers a traumatic brain injury. Where most books end with a happily ever after, this one starts with Justin and Dallas’ happy partnership – just before their lives are forever changed by a horrific accident. The rest of the story follows Justin’s slow, painful recovery as he learns to live and love again.

I loved everything about this book. Justin’s accident is the kind of ‘what if?’ that haunts every happy relationship. With most of the story told from Dallas’ perspective, my heart broke for him over and over again. Dallas’ quiet, solid commitment to Justin is beautiful and pretty inspirational. I love that the story feels real. There aren’t any quick fixes or miracle cures, just a steadfast commitment to a relationship that only one partner can remember. This book made me cry. But it also made me laugh. Dallas and Justin aren’t serious people and I love the moments when Justin’s irreverent humour pushes past his fear and pain.

Despite the gritty realism, this is also a hopeful story and it doesn’t get too dark or too heavy. It’s a beautifully written book that really grapples with the human experience. It annoys me that if this was the story of a heterosexual couple it would be on ‘must read’ lists everywhere. This book deserves all the attention and respect it can get because it is such a special read.

Angie☆☆☆☆☆
Oh my goodness! This book pulls at the heartstrings! I kept putting the book down because my heart hurt so much for Dallas and Justin. When Dallas told Justin he'd be by his side no matter what, he meant it. This is a true love story. One that gives you the feels. One that makes you realize these things do happen and what happens when they do. I can't wait to read the next book.
