Corbin’s Bend – Her Cowboy by Kate Richards

Felicity Franceaux's new position as head of the Corbin's Bend emergency room meets all her expectations. A professional staff, challenging cases, and a home in a town where spanking is not only accepted, it is appreciated. But losing her late husband left her so heartbroken, she's afraid to try again. However, if she did, the guy next door sure has her attention.

John Estrada, former ranch foreman now successful cowboy novelist also likes what Corbin's Bend has to offer, but he's having a hard time letting go of life on the range for life in the Bend. He'd like to get to know the pretty neighbor lady who never gives him more than a casual wave.

If only they could find a way to connect.

I just couldn’t get into this book; I couldn’t connect with either of the characters. I usually enjoy the whole insta-love thing; this time it just didn’t work for me. I didn’t feel any chemistry or anything. I know I am probably the minority here but that is the joy of books, some you like, some you don’t. Maybe it was the lack of interaction with all the other members of Corbin’s Bend that made me not like the book so much, the community is such a big part of the series and this book just didn’t have it.

Characters: Couldn’t connect with them
Sex: Yes
Religious: No
Would I recommend to others: Yes
More than one book in the series: Yes
Genre: Spanking/Romance
Would I read more by this author: Yes

I am huge fan of the Corbin's Bend series, and always delighted when a new one is released. This one is slightly different (see below), but still a good read.

One of the reasons I love Corbin's Bend books, is that we get to see how the things are progressing with other characters – and some, particularly Jonathan, are always popping up to make sure new residents are settling in. But here, both characters are clearly rather lonely, and that just seemed odd. I enjoyed the dynamics, the backstories, the misunderstandings, even the instant connection and where it led – but other than the Corbin’s Bend link meaning that they were both confident that spanking was an element of relationships that they expected, it was otherwise empty of the usual trappings. As that was what I was anticipating reading, it confused me. However, I did like the story a lot. I enjoyed the interludes from John's novel, as they were both fun, and tied in with him widening his range as an author as the friendship developed. The cooking, their mutual interests and the clear chemistry all worked together to provide a really good story. So, I would recommend it, as a new relationship spanking story, just don't expect too much from the other residents of Corbin’s Bend.

I'm not sure what to say about this book. This book had a story within a story, and to be honest, that took away from the story. So much so, I skipped the story that John was writing.

I liked parts of Felicity and John's story, but the insta-lust plot point is off-putting. They have been next door neighbors for months and neither venture outside or across the way to say "hello." As a matter of fact, John doesn't know many of the people in Corbin's Bend, which makes me wonder who his mentor is and how he hasn't managed to get him involved in the community.

The age difference between John and Felicity is brought up but is never really explored as well as how they've managed avoid the matchmaking efforts of the other Corbin's Bend residents.

I give this a 3-star rating. It’s a solid read, just not one of my favorites.

Kate Richards divides her time between Los Angeles and the High Sierras. She would gladly spend all her days in the mountains, but she’d miss the beach…and her very supportive husband’s commute would be three hundred miles. Wherever she is, she loves to explore all different kinds of relationships in her stories. She doesn’t believe one-size-fits-all, and whether her characters live BDSM, ménage, GLBT, spanking, or any other kind of lifestyle, it’s the love, the joy in one another, that counts.

Welcome to Corbin’s Bend: For Ben by Kate Richards

Roy Simms is about to make full partner in a big NYC law firm. His wife, Teri, assures him that once they reach their career goals, they can relax and enjoy life...maybe even consider starting a family. He’s not sure how much longer their marriage can survive if they don’t make time for one another. One evening of passion and spanking makes him ache for the connection they’ve almost lost.

Teri Simms doesn’t understand why Roy needs so much prodding to reach for the stars. With his education and talent, he should be senior partner long since. But he’ll get there. Her own vice presidency occurred only five years into her tenure with the financial firm, and if it takes seventeen hours a day and most of her weekends, so be it. Roy will just have to continue to be understanding.

A phone call from a stranger will change everything. This two-job-no-kids couple is a family, due to the tragic death of Teri’s sister and brother in law. They must fly immediately to Corbin’s Bend, Colorado and take charge of little Ben, almost four years old. The change of scene brings to the forefront everything good and bad about their marriage. It’s time to face some difficult truths.

Another one of my favorite Corbin’s Bend books! This story deals with the tragic loss and how to deal with that loss. One little boy ends up saving a couple who didn’t know they needed saving until it was almost too late. This was a well written book and a great addition to the series. The sex was hot and the story line was something that tugged at your heartstrings because it could happen to anyone.

Characters: The characters were well written and believable.
Sex: Yes
Religious: No

More than one book in the series: Yes

I really enjoyed this book.

Roy and Teri are hardworking, career-oriented professionals who have a hard time finding time for each other. That is, until the death of Teri's sister.

A trip to Corbin's Bend to settle the estate and take charge of their nephew, Ben, also has the added effect of giving the couple time. Time with each other, time with Ben, and time to reflect.

Join the other couples of Corbin's Bend and see what all the fuss is about.

This is one of the loveliest of the Corbin's Bend series that I have read. It is truly life affirming and refreshing. And I may have needed a tissue or two by the end. Lots of the stories have been about redemption, or escaping from stigma, but this is about rediscovering oneself, and reflecting on priorities ... the ease with which the daily grind becomes all encompassing. The journey for the lead characters is both emotional and intense – inside and outside of the bedroom.

Fabulous addition to the series – go read it and enjoy.
