Renner's Rules by K. Webster Blog Tour

I’m a bad girl.
I was sent away.
New house. New rules. New school.
Change was supposed to be… good.

Until I met him.

No one warned me Principal Renner would be so hot.
I’d expected some old, graying man in a brown suit.
Not this.
Not well over six feet of lean muscle and piercing green eyes.
Not a rugged-faced, ax-wielding lumberjack of a man.

He’s grouchy and rude and likes to boss me around.
I find myself getting in trouble just so he’ll punish me.
Especially with his favorite metal ruler.

Being bad never felt so good.

Adam Renner was injured in Afghanistan. He almost lost his life, if it wasn't for Mateo. Mateo was right there when he needed him, saved his life. Adam always told him he owed Mateo for what he did. Then Mateo called asking for a huge favor – moving his daughter to Adam's house. She had gotten a bit wild and needed more guidance than Mateo could provide. Adam never thought twice about it. He agreed. He was a principal and knew how to get kids back on the right path.

Elma, or Karelma, is eighteen, moving to a different state with a man she doesn't know. Her mom just died a few years ago and her dad doesn't trust her. She's alone, until she meets Adam. Adam changes her views on everything, including herself.

I enjoyed Renner's Rules, but it is the least favorite of the Taboo World reads. The interaction at the end with Mateo seems off to me. Regardless if he is an absent parent. It was a good read, but that part really just stuck with me, but I am always up for a Webster taboo. She does them better than any author out there.

Adam is a wounded vet who has dedicated his life to his students. He lives out in the middle of nowhere because the silence helps to calm him from the flashbacks and nightmares that he continues to have after being injured in combat. He is a fairly steady guy when you first meet him and he's able to take some pretty hard kiddos and help them find their own happy place. However, when his friend, Mateo, who is also the guy who saved his life, calls with a problem, Adam will drop everything to help.

Mateo has a problem. He's just lost his wife to cancer and his daughter is out of his control. He hopes that Adam can help her straighten out and that a change of scenery will also help. So, he packs Elma up and brings her to Adams.

It's here that Adam sees not a girl, but a woman. She is just legal, but the attraction that they both feel is undeniable. Adam struggles with their attraction, given the he's literally old enough to be her father. When push comes to shove, Elma and Adam will need to decide to take a risk or deny their feelings.

This is a very quick read and the relationship is one that many would consider taboo. The thought provoking idea is that I think that it's much more common than we all would believe and wouldn't people just throw their arms up and yell if that were made public?

This is a short, sexy and close-to-the-wire read. I love that the title has an erotic second meaning, which is fully explored!

One of the things that is really lovely about this romance is that both of them know it has to be kept quiet but cannot help but tell someone. It is little touches like this which Ms. Webster uses that ensures the super-naughty is also very, very good. It spreads through the whole of the story too – I had found Elma's father's disconnect with her to be sad, but she forgives him with one phrase, which was very understanding and adult of her. There is a significant development of her maturity through what is a short book.

A good mix of naughty and romantic.

Adam Renner has always wanted to go into education as a career, but when September 11th happened he joined the service. He was injured and almost lost his life. His friend Mateo saved his life and he owes him big.

When Mateo called in his favor, Adam didn't realize it would be helping to get Mateo's 18-year-old daughter back on track. Elma has lost her mom and her dad has buried himself in his work. She just wants a little love and attention.

The first thing Adam notices about Elma is how beautiful she is. He is attracted to her from the start. Elma finds herself drawn to Adam.

Will they give in to the attraction for one night? Will one night be enough?

I enjoyed this story, but I always find something to like in a K. Webster book. I never read the blurb, she is on my automatic authors to read. If you like a good taboo story with an older teacher and his younger female student, then this one is for you.

I must say there were a few cute teachers when I was in school, but none hot or sexy enough to live out this story, lol. So if you read this one, I hope you enjoy it too.

Renner's Rules was a quick, but complete, short story.

Principal Renner is a veteran who almost lost his life in Afghanistan. Without the help of his best friend, Mateo, he wouldn't have survived. When it's time for Mateo to collect on this favor, Renner is more than happy to help... until he finds out he's going to be babysitting an 18-year-old girl!

There were just too many things that didn't work for me. First, what father is going to ship their 18-year-old daughter to New Hampshire (from Florida!) and just drop her off? Not even stay to get her acclimated? Second, I didn't feel the chemistry between Renner and Elma, not at all. Of course, K. Webster's sexy-time was hot, but I wasn't anticipating their pairing. Third, Elma is dealing with the loss of her mother, but I can't see how or where it affects her. Fourth, Mateo – that's it, just Mateo.

I wanted to love this, it was a complete story with realistic bits, but I found myself only slightly interested. I did like the length, this was the perfect quick read to cleanse the palate!
