This is the first in the series that I've read and I never felt that I was missing anything. I'm sure there are characters that show up in previous books, but this one explained who everyone was.

This is a story about love of family, friends, and falling in love. It was not at all what I expected.

While I loved the banter between siblings, I found that their story was so much more compelling than the story between Karen and Drake. While I enjoyed the chemistry and banter between Drake and Karen a lot, it felt, at times, disjointed.

Drake's protection of his siblings is admirable. He is also so disgusted with where he came from that it's hard for him to come clean with his best brothers in arms. Despite what they have been able to figure out about him, his friends are there when he calls.

All in all, I enjoyed the story a lot. The action in the story was fast paced and planned, the relationships were complex without being overdone.

I can't wait to see what else happens and I am looking forward to going back and reading the previous books.
