Falling for Colton by Jasinda Wilder

I wasn’t always in love with Nell Hawthorne; I was in love with a girl named India before I ever met Nell. India? She was my first love, the girl who made me want to be better than my past, better than the blood and violence.

Live by the sword, die by the sword, that’s what they say, right? It should have been me, that day. But it was’t. It was her. And that changed me. Sent me down an even darker path than I’d been on before.

Until I met her. Nell Hawthorne. The girl who changed everything.

You know that story. But what you don’t know is everything that led up to that rainy day under a tree, at a funeral.

The Falling series... What can I say about it? It's amazing, it's emotional, and it's tragic. I was sucked in with the first book and it hit me hard, right in the feels. I cried through most of that first book! But, it's not all emotional warfare, it's eloquent and poignant and written with such heart that I've read every single book that followed and loved them all. Bringing me to Falling for Colton, which Wilder claims at the end is the VERY LAST book in this series.

We've heard from Colton and Nell's kids even, but never the backstory on Colt... but now we have. What a bittersweet story! Colton is a senator's son, he's expected to go places and do things. Problem with that, Colton has dyslexia and can’t read. He struggles with school and can’t live up to his "golden boy" brother. Running away to New York at 17, he gets involved with an underground fighting ring and gangs.

I fell hard for this bad boy with a big heart. He has loved, lost, and been beaten down. While at times during the story I doubted why he might not go back home, I found it all believable and very well written. I was sucked into the story and didn't want to come up for air. I'm still in book hangover. An awesome ending to a wonderful series and a five, emotional wreck, star read for me!
