Darker by E L James

E L James revisits the world of Fifty Shades with a deeper and darker take on the love story that has enthralled millions of readers around the globe.

Their scorching, sensual affair ended in heartbreak and recrimination, but Christian Grey cannot get Anastasia Steele out of his mind, or his blood. Determined to win her back, he tries to suppress his darkest desires and his need for complete control, and to love Ana on her own terms.

But the horrors of his childhood still haunt him, and Ana’s scheming boss, Jack Hyde, clearly wants her for himself.  Can Christian’s confidant and therapist, Dr. Flynn, help him face down his demons? Or will the possessiveness of Elena, his seducer, and the deranged devotion of Leila, his former submissive, drag Christian down into the past?

And if Christian does win Ana back, can a man so dark and damaged ever hope to keep her?

I just finished Darker and am still loving Christian's point of view. Getting inside his head was so much more for me. I like the way it gives me more of his pain and inside his head. And the way he sees Ana as his light and the way she makes him see that he was meant to be loved.

His point of view after Charlie Tango crashed and he got home was powerful, and he finally realized that his family loved him and has always loved him. I think it was the moment he finally accepted he could love and be loved.

And the part with Grace, after she learns about him and Elena, was heartbreak, but I think it was what needed to happen so he could see, once again, that a mother’s love is always there.

Needless to say, I can't wait for his point of view of Fifty Shades Freed. I love everything about this series, but I think Christian's point of view is my favorite.

I enjoyed seeing Christian's point of view in this story. This is the same story that was originally written, but with different points from Christian's point.

I think that the scenes from his view were different enough that when you put both viewpoints together, it can change the story makeup.

When you get to see behind the exterior of Christian's brain, you see how little he really thought of himself. It's really only when you get to see him process the accident with Charlie Tango and his reaction to his family's worry that you really understand how he is loved.

Seeing his mom's reaction to her friend's abuse against Christian was another point of view that was necessary. It showed Christian again, that a mother's love doesn't ebb or flow – it's constant.

I am looking forward to reading Christian's point for the next story too.

I’m a former TV executive, wife and mother-of-two based in the leafy suburbs of West London. Since January 2012 my life has taken an extraordinary turn with the runaway success of the Fifty Shades Trilogy. From an early age I had always dreamt of writing stories that readers would fall in love with – and my dreams have come true, thanks to you guys. Now that life seems to have settled down a little, I want to crack on and write my next novel – another adult, provocative romance. I do hope you will enjoy that too.

Thank you for all your support. It has meant the world to me. If any one were to ask me for my thoughts about this whole experience, I would say: life is not a dress rehearsal – seize the day and follow your dreams. I wish you the best of luck.
