I’d been raised on a motorbike, and tonight was the first time that I didn’t find that freedom—that peace. The loss of Cleo ate at my soul. The pain of failing her all over again threatened to crumble me into destruction.

I rode fast.

I rode hard.

But I felt as if I treaded water. Fought against demons. Got fucking nowhere.

The hum of tires and growl of engines only worsened my emotional torture. Peace? What was that? I’d never find peace again if I failed her a second time.

Fuck!

The speedometer needle climbed higher, teasing the boundaries of red danger.

Hurry up, for Christ’s sake!

The journey from Pure Corruption to Dagger Rose was an endless fucking marathon.

Every stop sign was a mortal enemy, every traffic light my ultimate nemesis.

An hour we’d been driving and we hadn’t even passed the halfway point.

My teeth clenched harder as I hunched farther over the bike.

We were late.

We were late and I was fucking pissed.

I was livid at my weakness.

I was furious at my condition.

And I was incandescent with rage at Mo and Grasshopper for not finding some way to fix this clusterfuck.

The nurse at the hospital had filed charges against me and called the police. She’d done everything in her power to detain me, all because I couldn’t leash my temper. She’d refused to give me the forms to sign out. She’d held my fucking clothes hostage. She’d deliberately antagonized me to the point where I would’ve probably killed her if Grasshopper hadn’t taken me into a janitor’s closet, stolen some fat man’s clothes, and thrown them at me.

I growled under my breath, anxiety and anger circulating hot in my blood. I needed to fly. I needed this journey to fucking end.

I need her.

I shivered as hurtling wind sliced through the horrific Hawaiian print shirt encasing my broad torso. The sleeves were too short, the chest too tight, and I couldn’t look at the god-awful track pants clinging to my legs.

I missed my leathers.

Shit, I missed my own damn bike.

Grasshopper’s custom Triumph was all wrong. The acceleration sluggish compared to my beast. The Pure Corruption logo of skulls and all-important abacas was drawn freehand with glowing flames on the frame.

The flames seared my heart.

Cleo.

My mind whooshed with burning houses, smoking remains, and charred dreams of ever growing old with the girl I loved.

She’d witnessed her parents’ double homicide.

She’d almost burned to death.

All because I wasn’t strong enough to save her.

And I’m not strong enough to save her now.

The agony of the never-ceasing headache hollered in agreement.

I’m a liability. I don’t deserve her.

Every mile we charged, my injuries and shortcomings became more apparent.

My head hurt like a motherfucker.

My vision was frighteningly narrowed.

My mind slothfully slow.

The joy of thinking in algorithms, the speed of dealing with figures and equations was . . . damaged.

I was fuzzy.

I was lost.

I hated to admit it, but the doctor was right.

There’s something wrong with me.

Everything raged inside. I couldn’t find that calm—that control. I was on the cusp of wreaking my revenge—on the precipice of having everything I’d been working toward coming true.

I couldn’t afford to be broken now.

I can’t bear to be ruined when she needs me.

The roar of another Triumph coasted beside me.

I looked to the side.

Mo matched my speed, still managing to look badass even with Grasshopper riding bitch on the back.

I felt empty, vulnerable at not having my usual weapons. But I’d refused to waste more time by returning home. Instead, I’d commandeered Grasshopper’s knife and his unregistered pistol and straddled his machine without asking.

What was his was mine. He’d get over it.

He worked for me. Not the other way around.

I’d been dead for too long believing Cleo was lost. I wouldn’t live in such hell again.

Yes, I had a shit-stirring headache. Yes, something was seriously fucking wrong with me.

But none of that mattered.

Cleo.

I have to get to Cleo.

Strong 4.5*
I was so grateful that as soon as I finished Ruin & Rule I could come straight to this sequel for some comfort – who was I kidding? Comfort...even answers were slowing coming forward – I was made to suffer torture along with Cleo and Art for many, many chapters – but they were fabulous chapters and it was definitely worth it – every page. I was wholly satisfied with the outcome, which certainly isn't always the case.

We dive straight in where we left off and the drama pretty much doesn't stop. Once again, I had to take breaks, just to remember to take a breath and calm my heart down. Silly maybe, but the speed at which the story develops and the issues that go unaddressed in the drive to get results, made me antsy! Cleo and Art having found each other, really didn't need more stress, but that would have made for a novella, not a full blown novel. Where sex had been used as a weapon, it is now a balm – still explosive, but so much more...that comes over so successfully, repeatedly. The attention to detail, the tidying up of previous threads, they all add to the whole and make this a really good conclusion to the story.

Thank you Ms. Winters!

Sin & Suffer was a much faster read than Ruin & Rule! I'm glad I decided to continue on with the story after Ruin & Rule. Arthur "Kill" Killian finally has the love of his life back after thinking she was dead. But, his crazy father and brother are still on the loose trying to ruin everything Kill has worked for in his life and for his MC. With Kill's mentor Wallstreet's imminent release from prison, Kill is trying to get everything in order to finally see his long revenge plan to fruition. Battling a horrific head wound and a terrible concussion he can’t see straight, let alone think straight. His trades aren't coming to him easily and it's all on the line. Trying to protect Cleo is warring with his absolute need for revenge on the club that betrayed him, including his father & brother.

I was really able to enjoy this story more with book two and it moved with a much quicker pace, and action packed. We have a great turn of events that is not the usual MC read along with a perfect end for Cleo & Kill.

This book picks up right where Ruin & Rule stopped. This book was intense in the beginning. I did find myself skimming through the book though at times and I am not sure why. I don’t know if I lost interest along the way or just felt it was too wordy or I just wanted my answers and happy ending. I love Pepper Winters and her writing is amazing – even if you don’t love the book, you will love her writing and her ability to pull you in with all her amazing mind.

Characters: Well written

Genre: Dark/Romance
Would I read more by this author: Yes

Shannan☆☆☆☆
Sin & Suffer starts with a bang. It picks up right where Ruin & Rule leave you hanging. Kill is injured and Cleo is missing. They've taken her and he will do whatever he has to, to bring her back.

War had begun. It’s time to rewrite our destiny.

Kill's need is for vengeance, but there is SO MUCH MORE to this story. I was on the edge of my seat from page one. It's gritty and romantic, dark and sexy. It's the perfect combination to keep you flying through the pages.

You’re killing me because without you, I’m so damn alone. I look back on the last eight years and wonder how the hell I survived without you. My fucking sanity depends on you. My self-worth, my happiness, my purpose, in this life- all hinge on you.

Sin & Suffer is completely addictive. It just pulls you in and you don't want to get out. You need to know what happens. How it all is going to play out. It really is so worth the read! Highly recommended.

I don't know how to review this...
I normally love Pepper Winters’ writing, but this was not my favorite book.
I was anxious to read the conclusion of Kill and Chloe's story, and this book picked up right where Ruin & Rule left off.

The first half of the story felt drawn out, I skimmed a lot to get through. Their feelings were discussed OFTEN, and I understood that but come on – enough is enough.
The second half of the story was much more exciting, action and adventure, the story finally felt like it was moving forward.

Overall, I this was an OK read but just not my favorite.

In order to train with her Circe expects Danny to do the one thing he hates above all others...submit.

Reader Advisory: This story visits the dark side of BDSM, where the only thing more intense than the scenes the characters participate in, is the love they have for one another.

Veronica☆☆☆☆☆
Danny really is the accidental Dom, being drawn into the BDSM world by his love for his best friend Paul. When Danny goes to professional Dominatrix Circe for proper training, she turns him down. She doesn't want to train Danny and so begins Danny's quest to convince Circe to take the chance.

I loved that we get some of this story from Circe's point of view. She clearly has a story of her own to tell. I loved seeing her view of Danny. Watching these two alphas face off against each other is so entertaining and at times very funny. Their interplay adds levity to an otherwise serious story that shows us Danny's fierce loyalty to those he loves.

For me, Claiming Eden did not have the heart soaring highs and crushing lows that we experienced in the first two books, nor anywhere near as much of the sex. If you were to read this story in chronological order being Finding Eden (book 2), Claiming Eden (book 3), then Beyond Eden (book 1), Claiming Eden would provide a break from the intensity while giving us great story and more of Danny and Paul.

I feel closer than ever to these characters that I love so much. I don't know if Ms. Moon plans to give us any more books in this series, but personally I want Circe's story and Jason's too. Thank you Ms. Moon for giving us Danny Boy, Paul Guy and Evie Girl.

Ruthie☆☆☆☆
This is the second of the prequels to Beyond Eden, a book which I absolutely loved. I assume that you have read it and Finding Eden in my review. If you haven't, may I recommend that you do, as they are both fabulous, and contextualise this story.

Danny is so conflicted with his feelings for Paul now being a possibility, even if Paul sees himself as straight, but submissive to Danny. That hurts Danny so much, but he accepts the limitations given how much he loves the guy. Or can he? This book deals with some really deep issues of how family can affect your thinking and doing, and whilst it is true in different ways for both men, the impact is significant. I love just how far Danny is prepared to go, and there are some wonderful moments of humour, which lighten what is a dark tale in places. It also makes clear some of the big issues which are raised in Beyond Eden and explains just why Danny is so uncertain of his place in Paul's life, in spite of everything.

Brilliant, once again Ms. Moon – thank you so much for bringing these in-between years to life, they are mesmorising. I am quite certain that I will be rereading Beyond Eden again soon, to revel in the impact that these two prequels bring to the story.

Acceptable Behavior by Jenna Byrnes

Tattoos don’t define a person’s character, or make him sexy. But, if you ask Sam Madison, they sure don’t hurt.

Dr. Travis Nelson has a passion for ink but keeps his many tattoos covered by long sleeves and trousers. He’s aware that as a pediatrician he’ll be judged not only by the other physicians in his practice, but also by the parents of his young patients.

When Sam Madison takes his young nephew, Levi, to be seen for an ear infection, he’s immediately attracted to Travis and the feeling is mutual. But Sam’s sister Melanie is going through a rough time and caring for Levi, and covering her obligations, keeps Sam occupied. He feels like he’s in no position to start a relationship.

Travis sees things differently, though he’s unable to truly understand the deep bond and connection Sam shares with his twin. As Melanie’s life goes from bad to worse, Sam is forced to make difficult decisions. Is protecting Levi enough of a reason for the two men to stay together, or will fighting for the child ultimately tear them apart?

Ruthie☆☆☆☆
This is a really interesting read – it sometimes pushes uncomfortable buttons, but then also fits with the characters that are behaving in that way. It also grounds them as people who are fallible, who do have selfish interests at play, and who want to get what they want. It is a mixture of sweet and tense, a slow paced life but at the same time, feelings develop quickly. As the first in a series, it gives us a big picture of the place and the people, and lets us guess who will be featured in future stories.

I enjoyed the dynamic that has to come into play when a child is in the story – and it is effective, although I felt sorry for Sam when Travis was particularly blunt! The passion between the two guys is intense, and equal, which worked well give all the other inequalities. This is a book which makes you think as well as sigh, and smile. It has some lovely touches of humour, and family.

I will definitely be looking out for book 2 with interest. Thank you Ms. Byrnes.

Shannan☆☆☆☆
Sam Madison is having a rough life. He moved in with his sister to help care for his nephew, Levi. Melanie isn't what you'd call an involved mother, she is on drugs and depressed over Levi's father going to prison, leaving Sam to do all the work. Sam is just plain tired. He hasn't been in a relationship in a while but doesn't even have the energy to care. That is, until he meets Levi's pediatrician.

Travis Nelson is a pediatrician. When he walks into the room with his next patient, he's instantly interested in Sam, but not knowing the situation, whether Sam's gay or straight, he moves the sexy man to his fantasies. When fate puts the two men together again, Travis has to find out one way or another what the situation is. Can Travis give Sam the help he knows he needs? Will Sam admit the sexy doctor is just what he needs in his life?

I fell in love with this story. It was a quick romantic feel-good read. At times Travis was a bit overbearing, but it was what Sam needed. He needed someone to care for him. The monologue in the court room was perfect and brought me to tears.

Looking forward to reading more from this author.

Jenna Byrnes could use more cabinet space and more hours in a day. She'd fill the kitchen with gadgets her husband purchases off TV and let him cook for her to his heart's content. She'd breeze through the days adding hours of sleep, and more time for writing the hot, erotic romance she loves to read.

Jenna thinks everyone deserves a happy ending, and loves to provide as many of those as possible to her gay, lesbian and hetero characters. Her favourite quote, from a pro-gay billboard, is "Be careful who you hate. It may be someone you love."

Erica☆☆☆
As an adult reviewing a young adult book, I try to place myself back to how I used to think as a fifteen-year-old. I do believe Lumière will be a thrilling adventure for a teen, but it was difficult for the adult in me to enjoy it. Usually there is no issue, but in this case, the adult in me tainted the experience.

Lumière's beginning was slightly difficult to read, but filled with rich details that immerses the reader into the story. We meet Eyelet, who comes off as frantic, not thinking of consequences and just acting. Aside from important details being left out, leaving the reader confused, Eyelet was what made Lumière difficult for me to read. Impulsive, entitled, pushy, she is the epitome of what I would not like a teen to behave like. It's amazing she made it to the age of seventeen without someone clocking her.

With that being said, the addition of epilepsy made Eyelet more human to me, and made her journey and adventures more realistic in nature. Orphaned, on the run, Eyelet searches for the machine her father built to diagnose and cure her epilepsy, fearing being turned in for being Mad. (Click HERE for spoiler.)

Urlick was interesting to meet, with his intriguing backstory and physical maladies, but his nice & nasty attitude turned me off to him in a nanosecond. So what made the book most difficult to read is that not only couldn't I connect to either narrator, I actually disliked them on a personal level. In real life, if I met either of them, I wouldn't befriend them unless their behavior changed. So no matter how engrossing the storyline was, I had to suffer through the storytellers.

Steampunk: richly detailed, slightly confusing as names of things were never explained. The timeline: one paragraph to the next, where the scene flowed in the blink of an eye, a page later Eyelet would say it was the next day, not two minutes later, but nothing happened in between. At one point, it was 3 weeks later, from one scene to the next, but Eyelet thought to herself how she was mean to Urlick the day before (a major event in the book – the storm approaching) but it was most certainly three entire weeks (the passing storm and the two weeks after waiting for the criminals to be dropped off). This type of thing happened several times, confusing me further.

In conclusion: Lumière will delight young adult readers who don't have the capacity to look deeper beneath the plot issues. If steampunk is your genre of choice, no doubt this will be a great read.

I would read more by this author, as I enjoyed their storytelling and voice, but I will not be continuing on with this series as I did not enjoy Eyelet or Urlick as narrators.

Genre: Steampunk | Young Adult | Carnival curiosities |

Age range: 12+. Set in the Victorian era, Lumière adheres to rules of the era. No cussing, sexual content, slight violence. A recommended read for Young Adult who enjoy Steampunk or Fantasy.

What can I say? I love to write. I write every single day. When I'm not writing, I'm reading, or learning something new to incorporate into my business. (Yes, I run my own business...and love every minute of it!) My favourite moments in writing, are when the characters come to life in front of me and start arguing with me on my desk. I love when scenes download that way. Just like a movie. I call it being in the zone. Only trouble is, when I get in the zone, I can't get out of it. Once I'm in, I swear a bomb could go off and I wouldn't notice. Thus, children are sometimes left at school, and I'm notoriously late for everything. But just think what wonderful creations I'd miss out on if this weird phenomenon didn't exist in me!

Dawn☆☆☆☆
I really enjoyed this book. I am not gonna lie, I really didn't like Zeke for most of this book. I thought he was pretty arrogant and just generally not nice.

Bryce, on the other hand, I loved from the very start. I thought they worked well together and they had pretty hot chemistry.

It was a good story that kept me interested all the way through.

Well done T.A. McKay on your first M/M book.

After being married for ten years and raising three beautiful kids I decided it was time to do something for myself. My passion for reading bled over with a need to tell the story that was repeating in my head and that was the birth of my first book. The rest they say is history.

I love the creative release that writing gives you, being able to take someone away to a different world feels amazing. As a reader I know how important that escape is, and as a writer I love to be able to give people that.

My other loves include music and reading (in case I haven't mentioned that before) and then when I have time a little more reading. I think if I could read for a living I would, but since I can't I will continue on the writing side of things.

Mickie's sister Angel is "dating" the President of the Red Brothers MC. Angel is young and naive and believes that Ransom is like the MC Presidents in the romance books, good but rough around the edges. Mickie knows better and is doing her best to try to convince her sister to stay away from the club.

Cruz an FBI agent working undercover as a prospect at the Red Brothers and he hates it. He hates their drug dealing and the way they treat women. Cruz orchestrates a meeting with Mickie, lying about who he is to try to keep her away from the club, who are not happy with her interfering with Angel's relationship with their MC.

Mickie and Cruz have strong chemistry but we can see right from the start that this relationship is going to end badly. Even knowing that Cruz is drawn to Mickie and can't keep away from her. I had a good time reading Justice for Mickie. It is steamy and romantic without being over the top, with a good amount of action. I look forward to reading more of this series.

Lee’Anne☆☆☆☆☆
This was my favorite book so far from Ilsa Madden-Mills, I loved it! From the prologue, which is a game changer, you won’t want to put it down.

Elizabeth Bennett has had a rough past, which gets explained in the prologue, on top of that she has a difficult mom to deal with. Elizabeth sets out looking for a one-night stand. She knows going in that Declan is not the man to have this one-night stand with, but once Declan decides he wants something he’s determined to get it. Declan is a rich street-fighter who got burned by his ex and now doesn’t do relationships. He’s a hit-it and quit-it kind of guy, but when he sets his sights on Elizabeth that all changes.

I really liked that both Declan and Elizabeth are overcoming difficulties with their parents and they’re there for each other. Declan is quick to defend Elizabeth when she needs it and it makes for a really sweet romance with a large dose of steamy! This book had me crying and laughing on several different occasions, I just love Declan’s twin brother, Dex, and really hope he gets his own book!

I can’t wait to see what Ilsa Madden puts out next!

This book started off really good, held my attention and drew me in. However, about halfway into the book I seemed to have lost all interest in the book and I can’t really pinpoint why. At times I could feel the chemistry between the characters and at times I couldn’t. The whole drama with the mom and her boyfriend wasn’t working for me, what mom would tell some dude she just met something like that? Then the ending everything seemed to be fixed and tied with a pretty bow, somehow it just didn’t work for me. I loved Declan and his twin brother, I kind of wish I saw more of his twin, he seemed fun and lovable.

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Ilsa Madden-Mills writes about strong heroines and sexy alpha males that sometimes you just want to slap.

She's addicted to dystopian books and all things fantasy, including unicorns and sword-wielding females. Other fascinations include frothy coffee beverages, dark chocolate, Instagram, Ian Somerhalder (seriously hot), astronomy (she's a Gemini), Sephora make-up, and tattoos.

She has a degree in English and a Master's in Education.

When she's not pecking away on her computer, she shops for cool magnets, paints old furniture, and eats her weight in sushi.
