Intended for Bristol by L.P. Dover

L.P. Dover’s tantalizing Second Chances series scores once again as the Carolina Cougars’ infamous bad boy takes a shot at seducing a driven career woman who’s supposed to be out of bounds.

Trying to live down his very public indiscretions, Carolina Cougars kicker Jaxon Reed feels like the most hated man in the NFL. Fans and teammates alike treat him with the disrespect he figures he deserves. Unfortunately for them, Jaxon’s no easy target. As payback, he sets his sights on the quarterback’s sister: a sultry brunette who’s curvy, confident, and sexy as hell. But what begins as a revenge fling turns into so much more—a lesson in humanity, and in love.

Bristol Thomas doesn’t have time for games, especially those played by her brother’s Neanderthal teammates. A talented interior designer with lofty goals, she doesn’t know the first thing about football, or Jaxon—except that he’s exactly the type of man she usually avoids. But when his deep laugh and deeper kisses break through her walls, she becomes the target of a fan who’s obsessed with Jaxon. Now she needs to know that Jaxon has her back... because he already has her heart.

Shannan☆☆☆☆
Jaxon Reed is your typical love 'em and leave 'em bad boy. He's arrogant, cocky, and knows with just a smile, the ladies will come running. He's also trying to win back the trust of his team. When he tried to sabotage Evan and Summer's relationship, the team didn't take it well and he became blacklisted basically. The team was against him, but they knew they needed him on the field. Derek was one of the only guys to go out of his way to be nice to Jaxon. Slowly but surely, the guys were starting to see that Jaxon wasn't as bad as he was made out to be. When Cooper Davis, the star quarterback, was injured severely enough to never return to the game, the coach made the decision to bring in another quarterback, Ryan Delaney. Ryan's bad attitude and arrogance is known throughout the league. No one is happy to have him on the team, least of all Jaxon.

When Jaxon sees a beautiful woman sitting alone at the bar he makes his move, not knowing who she is. He's mesmerized by her, especially since she has no idea that he is a football player. After he excuses himself, he finds out later find out she's sitting at a table with Ryan. Will Jaxon risk being in the team’s good graces to get back at Ryan by trying to steal his girl or will Jaxon realize he's getting too old for games?

Intended for Bristol was a definite page turner for me. I always end up rooting for the bad boy. I enjoy the sneak peaks we get into the lives of the other characters. I always miss past characters after their books have completed. Jaxon ended up to be sweet and sexy, and the chemistry between him and Bristol was off the charts.

I can't wait to see where Ms. Dover goes next with this team.

This is book nine of a series, they are all connected, and there is a thread running through the ones I have read, but it could be read as a standalone.

I liked the plot of this book – and even though I guessed the twist, I think that it worked pretty well.

The story is told from the two lead’s points of view, but their voices were not significantly different for me. At times, there was too much detail given, which gave the writing a slightly stilted style. I was not always convinced by some of the tempestuous emotions, which did not seem consistent with what the characters actually said. I was also confused when Bristol talked about him as Jaxon, when she knew him as Jack. The detail about the football was good and flowed really well – and the group events were fun too – especially if you have read previous books and were happy to get an update on everyone's relationships. Do be prepared to need a tissue, as there is a very moving event which cannot fail to cause a tear or three to fall.

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author L.P. Dover is a Southern belle living in North Carolina with her husband and two beautiful girls. Before she began her literary journey she worked in periodontics, enjoying the wonderment of dental surgeries.

She loves to write, but she also loves to play tennis, go on mountain hikes, and go white-water rafting, and has a passion for singing. Her two youngest fans expect a concert each and every night before bedtime, usually Christmas carols.

Dover has written countless novels, including her Forever Fae series, the Second Chances series, the Gloves Off series, the Armed & Dangerous series, the Royal Shifters series, and her stand-alone novel Love, Lies, and Deception. Her favorite genre to read and write is romantic suspense, but if she got to choose a setting in which to live, it would be with her faeries in the Land of the Fae.
