Filthy Rich by Raine Miller

Billionaire Caleb Blackstone lives in the glamorous world of wealth and success, with every material luxury. But the moment he sees Brooke Casterley, none of that matters. Caleb is filled with a raw, undeniable need that he can’t ignore…for a girl who is so completely different from everything and everyone he’s ever known.

Only Brooke isn’t looking for love. She knows all too well just how much damage the wrong guy can do. Still, what sane, broke British girl can resist the charms of an incredibly sexy, chivalrous billionaire? What starts as flirtation quickly turns into all-consuming passion. Nothing could have prepared her for the searing heat of Caleb’s touch—or just how much she craves him.

Their whirlwind romance is the stuff of high-society fantasy—but for every moment of pleasure, there is a cost. Past mistakes and tragedy shadow them both…and falling for him might be the kind of trouble she can’t afford.

Caleb Blackstone is the billionaire that has everything, everything except the one that will make his life complete. When he ends what he thought was a relationship, it was just sex and the girl was only after the name and status he could give her. He was tired of all the "tribe" BS his mother was pushing for, how blue-bloods should marry like-minded people because they were the same and wanted the same. He kept remembering what his father told him before he died. When you meet the one that makes you happy, you will know. And don't let her go. And to always be happy. So Caleb was going to stay away from fake women for awhile, that is until he sees HER!

Brooke Casterley is finally getting her life back in order. After almost two years of hell, she is back on Blackstone Island with Nan, her grandmother, and loving her job. She isn't anywhere near looking for a relationship because she knows that the wrong man can destroy her for good this time. She is working two jobs to help Nan, who fell and messed up her knees and is in rehab recovering. Brooke also knows heartache after losing both parents at the age of 15 and only has Nan.

But when Brooke meets Caleb at her catering job, he is so different from any other man she has ever met. He is sweet, charming, and caring. But can he be real? Caleb is captivated by her from the first time he sees her, and the pieces of his life seems to be falling in place. She is the ONE for him. His dad was right. But Brooke isn't so sure about his status and she knows she doesn't fit in his world. Caleb doesn't care, he only wants her and he will give her time to see that. Can he convince her that his love is real?

When I saw this book come up on the reading list, I didn't even read the description, I saw it was written by Raine Miller and I knew I had to read it. I love her and her writing style is wonderful. She has the best stories that make you feel all the emotions throughout the whole story. I kept watching the % counter because I didn't want it to end. I loved everything about Caleb and Brooke, and I can't wait for more from the Blackstone siblings.

First off, I love Raine Miller. It normally doesn't matter what the book will be about, because I absolutely love the style Miller uses.

In this story, I do have to say that Caleb Blackstone – at least the name, threw me a little. It was too close to the other stories that Miller has written and was sometimes distracting. However, the content of the story was phenomenal and didn't disappoint.

Caleb is a billionaire who is used to getting what he wants without having to work for it. And, while he's a great businessman, he is lacking in his ability to connect with others people in his life. He's just kind of floating through life, drifting but without real purpose. After getting tired of yet another "relationship," he decides that he needs to seek out something else, something his mother will have no control over.

Brooke is an amazing character. Despite her lack of confidence in where her life is heading, she has confidence in capability to protect herself in spades and her snarky attitude is hilarious. I love that she isn't afraid to stand up and say it like it is. Brooke has had a hard past – she has overcome a lot and even though there is still the worry that her past will come back and haunt her, she is really hoping that won't happen. Brooke has always felt a little out of place on the island, but her Nan has always welcomed her and made her feel connected. When Brooke finds her way back from the hell that she had been living, she has a career with amazing co-workers and a horrible catering job so that she can make ends meet.

After their eventful initial meeting, Caleb can't get Brooke out of his mind, and Brooke struggles with forgetting the kind man from the horrible catering job. When Caleb does anything and everything in his power to find Brooke, it begins a type of relationship that he's never had before. And while not everyone – ahem, his mother – is happy about the relationship, Brooke's family and Caleb's siblings couldn't be happier. While Caleb does all he can to shield Brooke from his life in the tabloids, Brooke begins to doubt her place because she hates being the center of attention. Both realize that they will withstand whatever in order to stay together – their love cannot be conquered.

I wish that more had been discussed about the home that Caleb saved, but hopefully that will come up in future books. Overall, LOVED the story and dedication Caleb and Brooke had to each other and really hope his mother slithers off and hides for the rest of her life.

Ruthie☆☆☆☆
I really enjoyed this fun and fast read. It was full of over the top romantic gestures; a man who is brought to his knees when he discovers 'the one' and who sets the bar high for book boyfriends. I rather liked that there were hints of drama which never quite got as bad as expected... It certainly made the tension rise. There were a number of really meaningful and surprising revelations, and they were done in ways which worked and added to the story. Between Brooke and Caleb, there is a wonderful sense of fate taking hold, and them (and us) being along for the inevitable ride. It is one sexy, flirtatious, and delicious journey!

Ms. Miller has a very easy writing style, which ensured that I stayed up into the early hours of the morning, unable to stop swiping onto the next page, irrespective of the tiredness of my eyes. It is such an effective mix of cheeky, light-hearted humour as well as being serious and heartbreakingly intense. I did leave the last few chapters until morning, so that I could really enjoy the culmination of the romance. It was a good decision, even if I didn't really want to stop.

The best news is that this is the first in a new series, and we have plenty of Blackstones who deserve a happily ever after, and maybe a few hints here will turn out to be full blown adventures of their own. I cannot wait!

New York Times bestselling author Raine Miller finds as much happiness in writing romances as she does in reading them. Ever since she picked up her first romance novel at thirteen years of age, she’s been hooked. Filthy Rich—the first book in her all-new series, Blackstone Dynasty—is Raine’s latest contemporary romance.

Raine lives with her handsome husband, brilliant sons, and two very bouncy (but beloved) Italian greyhounds.
