Something Old by Abigail Grey

Claire Wallace left town ten years ago. She hasn’t looked back to small town life—or Matt Brannon—until now.

When Claire Wallace grew up in West Haven, it was a sleepy town she wanted to escape. A job offer right out of high school was her ticket. Ten years later when she returns for a class reunion, Claire sees that the town she left is not the same place where she grew up.

Even Matt Brannon has changed. Back then he was good old Matty—good for a laugh and good on his word. He’d even been really good that night in the back of his truck. But now? He's still a good guy, good at his job and doing good deeds all over town—but some things have definitely changed for the better.

Small town romances and high school reunions just aren’t the same after a trip to the Sanctuary. In a truly binding embrace, Claire and Matt may find that their something old may become something more.

Reader Advisory: This book contains some scenes of rope play.

Avid Reader☆☆☆
This is not at all what I expected. It wasn't bad, but I wasn't blown away by the story either.

Matt is a down home, "good old boy." He has lived his life in a small town and knows everyone around. He's pretty content with his life. When a class reunion comes up, he calls his longtime friend whom he's lost contact with, Claire.

Claire is a girl who needed to get out of small town living – she wanted to live the fast life. What happened was that she was taken for a spin by a smooth talker. She's been trying to dig her way out of the mess that became her life, ever since.

While this is a cute, feel good story about second chances, there is very little development and almost no history to help you figure out what happened or what will happen. I really wanted to like this story a lot more, but without those aspects, I just couldn't get there.

The writing style was good – I liked how the author didn't over describe things. However, the flow of the story was somewhat truncated.

An avid reader from the beginning, Abigail Grey was first introduced to romance novels as she snuck them from her mother's bookshelf. She was a writer even then, penning poems and stories that centered around her small town childhood. Life went on, and Abigail learned about the intricacies of BDSM and kink. She quickly married the two and began writing fantasies to keep people burning for more. After publication in a collection of short stories, Abigail was encouraged by her local book club to continue.

Abigail lives in that small town in Western Michigan still, working and writing from home. She counts herself lucky to be named a leader in her local kink community and is often found at their own Sanctuary learning about rope, insertables, polyamory, and littles.  When not writing and reading, Abigail can be found at the local community theatre, fostering theatre geekhood in the younger generations.
