Fan the Flames by Katie Ruggle

In the remote Rocky Mountains, lives depend on the Search & Rescue brotherhood. But in a place this far off the map, trust is hard to come by and secrets can be murder...

As a Motorcycle Club member and firefighter, Ian Walsh is used to riding the line between the good guys and the bad. He may owe the Club his life, but his heart rests with his fire station brothers...and with the girl he's loved since they were kids, Rory Sorenson. Ian would do anything for Rory. He'd die for her. Kill for her. Defend her to his last breath-and he may just have to.

Every con in the Rockies knows Rory is the go-to girl for less-than-legal firearms, and for the past few years, she's managed to keep the peace between dangerous factions by remaining strictly neutral. But when she defends herself against a brutal attack, Rory finds herself catapulted into the center of a Motorcycle Club war-with only Ian standing between her and a threat greater than either of them could have imagined.

Rory Sorenson is the owner of the local gun shop and every criminal and bad guy knows who she is. To most people she seems strange, and with the way she was brought up, strange doesn't even come close. Her parents were the kind of people that were paranoid about everything, from zombies to the end of the world doomsday. So Rory was raised with that in mind and with preparedness drills for every situation. She had no friends, no one close to her. So her social skills are lacking.

Ian Walsh is the sexy firefighter who also happens to be part of the local MC. He splits his time between both worlds, but can he be true to both and still survive? Ian has loved Rory since they were kids but she didn't seem to know he existed. Now that he is getting close to her, he can't let go without finding out where things between the just might go.

After Ian is set up and Rory, Ian, and the other fireman are almost blown up, will they get who is after them and find out why? Will Rory learn to be social with Ian and their friends help? Oh yeah, and now she is volunteering at the firehouse and finding that she is liking the control and helping others that it gives her. Will Rory tell Ian she has liked/loved him all these years too?

This story is great, and after reading the others in this series (On His Watch, a novella, and Hold Your Breath), I was glad there was a story about Ian, the small bits in the other stories just wasn't enough. It is full of suspense, danger, new found family and friends, and love, I can't wait for more.

Super steamy read! I read this without reading book one with no problem, there are several references to book one made but nothing that leaves you confused.

Ian is a super sexy biker as well as fire fighter who has been in love with Rory since they were kids. Rory grew up off the map with parents who were preppers, preparing Rory for any future zombie apocalypse. When Ian is named as a suspect in a murder case, he steps up against his club to defend Rory when they decide to attack her. Though Rory has had a crush on Ian since childhood, having grown up off the grid makes her socially awkward and unable to confront Ian with her feelings. Though the two are definitely an unlikely pair, their being together is just perfect!

I love how patient and sweet Ian is with Rory, while being a total badass 100% of the rest of the time. Rory, though socially awkward, is still a fierce heroine and I really loved her character. This is a great read and I look forward to more from this series!

This is another fantastic read in the series. I really love the depth of story that develops, alongside a really lovely and well deserved romance. Each story has been unique and special in its own way – this might just be my favourite to date.

Rory (a name I tend to think is male) is a young woman who has had an incredibly unusual upbringing. It shapes how she behaves, how she perceives herself, and how she assumes others see her. The detail with which this is brought to life, is incredible, believable, and intense. It all became real in my head. Ian has had special importance in her life since she first met him aged 11, when he gave her a pink cupcake. As we experience these two dancing around each other, it is like being drawn in with ever tightening spider's thread.

Add in a really strong plot, and enough drama to get me worried about their safety, repeatedly, and I have just had two days of intense reading. There are some wonderful moments of humour, compassion, and love which even things up a bit! It is definitely a great big adventure story, with a hugely satisfying ending for the heroes and the reader.
