Mr. and Mr. Smith by HelenKay Dimon

Secrets and seduction make for an explosive combination in HelenKay Dimon’s edgy, thrilling new series, which kicks off with a novel about two men who can handle any threat—except the one posed by desire.

Fisher Braun knows how to keep a secret. As a covert paramilitary operative, his job—and his life—depends on it. He’s at the top of his game, ready for action and always in control. No enemy has ever brought him to his knees, but one lover has: Zachary Allen, the man currently sharing his bed. The perfect package of brains and brawn, Zach is someone worth coming home to, and Fisher hates keeping him in the dark about what he does. But the lies keep Zach safe. Until the day Fisher loses everything...

Zachary Allen is no innocent civilian. Although he plays the tech geek, in reality he’s deep undercover for the CIA. In a horrible twist of fate, the criminal enterprise he’s infiltrated has set its sights on the man whose touch drives him wild. Zach would do anything for Fisher—except blow his own cover. Now, in order to save him, Zach must betray him first. And he needs Fisher to trust him with all his heart if they want to make it out alive.

Shannan☆☆☆
When your job depends on absolute secrecy, not only to save your life but the lives of those you love, you keep secrets. Finding out the geeky boyfriend isn't who you think he is, is shocking especially when you find out you are two separate sides.

You are thrown into the action with the first page. It's a fast paced beginning. The energy between Zach and Fisher is sparking. I got lost somewhere in the middle, it goes from a page-turner to me skimming chapters. The action and angst picks back up somewhere near the end. Overall, I found it an enjoyable read.

CIA agent Fisher meets Zach in a bar and they begin an affair. But Fisher thinks that his boyfriend is a computer geek. Turns out Zach is CIA too.

This story has action, danger, and good guys trying to bring down the bad guys. Throughout this, Fisher struggles to cope with Zack's betrayal and his feelings for Zack now he knows the truth about him. I found the romance a little too in your face at times, and this had me disconnecting emotionally from the characters. The action and intrigue and sex were good and kept me reading.

I wonder if the author will write more stories of Fisher and Zack. Mr. and Mr. Smith was good and I'd read any follow ups.

This is definitely a book for readers who like bluff and double bluff, of a rather Bond nature. It is fast paced, well crafted, so that one really isn't quite sure (even now) about some of the characters' loyalties. It stretched my imagination, and was a very satisfying read.

I liked how the relationship threaded through the thriller, and how it played out. They certainly heated up the page – and may have cornered the market on angry (I'm-not-in-love) but steamy action. I rather hope that Ms. Dimon has a few more stories to tell with this group of agents, as there are plenty of openings for a follow on!

I honestly didn’t like this book. I was bored, I skimmed, and even the good sex couldn’t keep me interested. There was a lot of action, but then a lot of boring parts as well. I didn’t feel any connection with the characters and I just couldn’t wait for the book to be over. I feel bad saying that because I know how hard authors work, this just wasn’t for me but I am sure other people will enjoy it.

HelenKay Dimon spent the years before becoming a romance author as a divorce attorney—not the usual career transition. Now she writes full-time and she’s much happier. The author of more than thirty novels, novellas, and short stories that have twice been named Red-Hot Reads and excerpted in Cosmopolitan, she’s on the board of directors of the Romance Writers of America and teaches fiction writing at UC San Diego and MiraCosta College.
