Heavy Secrets by Elle Aycart is Now Available & Reviewed

Christy Sheridan has come a long way from the physical and emotional wreck she used to be. She's made Alden her home and is happily engaged to a man who loves and accepts her for who she is, curves, quirks, and geekiness included. Life is good. Until Mommy Dearest blows into town to "help" her clueless daughter seal the deal.

Cole Bowen is experiencing a world of firsts: first time in love, first engagement, first Valentine's, first in-laws. He's found the woman of his dreams, so he figured dealing with Martha Sheridan was a small price to pay. That is before his monster-in-law plants herself in their home and inside Christy's head, stirring up old demons and destroying her newly regained self-esteem. And while his hands are full with trying to neutralize their meddlesome guest, a mysterious phone call turns his world upside down.

With ghosts from the past resurfacing, Cole and Christy will be lucky to make it to the wedding they both so desperately want before heavy secrets tear them apart.

“How many years do you think I’d get for offing my mom? Because honest to God, if we’re talking single digits, I’m willing to risk it,” Christy said while leaning back on the lounge chair after getting a full-body massage that had left her totally gooey.

They were at the spa, wearing fluffy bathrobes and sipping tea, except for Christy, who was nursing a diet soda.

“Just name a time and place, and we’ll be there with a shovel. No questions asked,” Annie said, and Holly and Tate assented.

“I could claim temporary insanity.” Heck, emotional self-defense too.

“Don’t worry, we’ll vouch for you. No jury in its right mind would convict you,” Holly stated. “I thought you were exaggerating, but boy, were you understating. What a…character.”

Ha. That was one way of putting it.

Annie nodded in commiseration. She’d met Martha a long time ago, when the girls were in college. Christy had gone for an East Coast institution, hoping it would be out of her mom’s range, but going away had been useless. There was no place far enough.

Crazy had its own methods of reaching her.

“Where’s the Grand Diva now?” Tate, Christy’s future sister-in-law, asked.

“Checking out wedding dresses. She arranged an appointment at a bridal shop. I stood her up.”

Her whole posse turned to her, looking stupefied.

“She’s picking out a wedding dress without the bride?”

Yeah, typical Martha stunt.

“I know I should be there, but why, really? She won’t listen to anything I say. I might as well save my breath.”

And a whole lot of pain and abuse in the process.

The girls pondered for a second and then nodded.

“Oh, and remember,” Christy added, reaching for her diet soda. “I’m not here. I’m in the middle of a massive twelve-car accident. Well and healthy but stuck inside the vehicle and waiting for the firefighters to come and cut the roof open to rescue me.”

That her mom hadn’t rushed to her side when Christy called her—and that Christy had known she wouldn’t—already said it all.

“And when your mom realizes your car is intact? Then what?” Tate asked, to which Christy couldn’t help snorting.

“That would imply she remembered our talk. It won’t happen. A total impossibility.”

Christy would bet anything, her first unborn child included—and her second and third—that her mom wouldn’t even mention it. That was the advantage of being disappointed one too many times; no way in hell to harbor false illusions.

Martha’s number-one priority was…Martha. Followed by whatever man she was screwing with at the moment. How she’d managed to marry a decent guy and keep him for several years was beyond Christy. Then again, Fred was too kind for his own good. That or he had a hell of a lot of bad karma from a previous life.

For a split second, she’d considered going to the bridal shop, but then she’d discarded the idea. Defaulting to her smile-accept-and-walk-away technique, she’d nodded and kept quiet. And had run in the opposite direction at the first chance. Let her mother get her kicks. Just let her do it far away from Christy. Besides, there was no damage Martha could do; Christy had told the shop assistant not to reserve anything without her consent.

Holly poured herself more tea. “Doesn’t she know you don’t want a traditional dress for your summer wedding?”

“She knows. She just doesn’t care.” They were talking about a woman who had gotten married four times, once with a beer-can tab as a ring. Appointments at high-scale bridal shops were a dream come true for her. “I feel like a shitty daughter, but I’m so ready for her to leave.”

Martha had come for Christmas with her husband and stayed a couple of days. It had gone rather well, probably because Cole was scary enough and Martha hadn’t worked herself up to be…well, herself. This time around, she’d been in Alden for three days, without Fred, and Christy was ready to face the gallows for a chance to get rid of her.

Fate had thrown Christy the mother of all curve balls when it chose Martha as her sole parent.

Their relationship had always been complicated, to say the least, with Christy spending all her life putting out fires—Martha’s—and eating to cope. Eventually she’d gotten her food addiction under control, but changing her mom and her nasty ways was something out of her reach.

And having Martha living with her without Fred as a buffer was bringing up all sorts of feelings and automatic coping mechanisms that Christy had thought she’d left behind.

Lora, Christy’s former sponsor, had been right: nothing guaranteed recovery, and they were always one upset away from relapse.

I love all of the Bowen brothers and their ladies, but Christy and Cole’s story is my favorite among them. As a plus-sized gal myself, I felt an almost immediate connection to Christy the first time I read Heavy Issues. Needless to say, when I found out that their story was going to continue in Heavy Secrets I was beside myself with glee and that increased exponentially when I was offered the chance to read it early! And it was AWESOME!!!

It’s been a while since I last read Heavy Issues, so I don’t remember if Christy’s mother Martha was introduced before and I merely blocked her horrid character from my mind or not, but I was ready to crawl inside my Kindle and throttle that woman…multiple times. Good grief! With a mother like that, who needs enemies? But her presence helped to highlight the love that Cole had for Christy as evidenced by the fact that he didn’t confront Martha at Christy’s request. And when Christy finally reached her breaking point with her mother, the love that she had for Cole was even more apparent. But there was far more to the story than dealing with Martha and her constant attacks on Christy’s self-esteem as Cole found himself confronted with his past and the havoc his mother’s desertion and death wreaked on him emotionally. But you’ll have to read the book to find out what happens because that’s one spoiler I won’t reveal.

Heavy Secrets provided the same reading experience as every book in the Bowen series has for me – the opportunity to hang out with great friends. I laughed…A LOT. I teared up a few times. I cheered Christy on when she confronted Cole. I cheered her on even more when she dealt with her mother. I felt Cole’s pain. I squirmed while reading the freaking hot sex scenes. And my jaw dropped at the unexpected revelation at the end of the book. Oh! My!! GOD!!! Ms. Aycart I cannot wait to see where you take the series now.

After a colorful array of jobs all over Europe ranging from translator to chocolatier to travel agent to sushi chef to  flight dispatcher, Elle Aycart is certain of one thing and one thing only: aside from writing romances, she has abso-frigging-lutely no clue what she wants to do  when she grows up. Not that it stops her from trying all sorts of crazy stuff.

While she is probably now thinking of a new profession, her head never stops churning new plots for her romances. She lives currently in Barcelona, Spain, with her husband and two daughters, although who knows, in no time she could be living at the Arctic Circle in Finland, breeding reindeer.

Hard to Let Go by Laura Kaye is Now Available & Reviewed

Beckett Murda hates to dwell on the past. But his investigation into the ambush that killed half his Special Forces team and ended his Army career gives him little choice. Just when his team learns how powerful their enemies are, hard-ass Beckett encounters his biggest complication yet—a seductive, feisty Katherine Rixey.

A tough, stubborn prosecutor, Kat visits her brothers’ Hard Ink Tattoo shop following a bad break-up—and finds herself staring down the barrel of a stranger’s gun. Beckett is hard-bodied and sexy as hell, but he’s also the most infuriating man ever. Worse, Kat’s brothers are at war with the criminals her office is investigating. When Kat joins the fight, she lands straight in Beckett’s sights . . . and in his arms. Not to mention their enemies’ crosshairs.

Now Beckett and Kat must set aside their differences to work together, because the only thing sweeter than justice is finding love and never letting go.

Taking a deep breath, Beckett knocked on the door.

No answer.

He turned the knob, and the door opened.

“Go away,” came a strained voice.

Beckett poked his head through the opening. Kat sat in a ball in the corner, her legs pulled up to her chest, her arms hugging herself tight.

“Aw, Jesus, Beckett. Really?” Her face was splotchy and her eyes watery, though he didn’t see any tears.

Ten-to-one she was going through some adrenaline letdown right now, too. Which no doubt made it all worse. That shit could fuck you up even when you were used to how it left you feeling drained and shaky, by how all the stress you’d suppressed during the height of the crisis boomeranged twice over after the fact.

He came into the room, closed the door, and turned the lock for good measure. And then he crossed to Kat, scooped his arms under her knees and behind her back and lifted her up against him.

She smacked his chest. “Put me down.”

“No.” He moved to the edge of the bed.

“I don’t need this right now, Beckett. Put me down.”

“Yes, you do,” he said, sitting on the edge of the mattress. He pulled her face in against his throat and smoothed her hair back from her cheek. She trembled against him, just the littlest bit, her skin hot to the touch. He pressed a kiss to her forehead and hugged her tighter. “You did good, kid.”

Every one of her muscles went tight. Her hand fisted in his shirt. And her breath caught as she buried her face against his neck and shoulder.

Then Kat burst out crying.

And it was like being torn apart and put back together, all at once. He hated her pain, but he adored that she wasn’t hiding herself from him, and that she was letting him be there for her.

He didn’t shush her, or try to talk her down, or encourage her to dry her eyes. To be sure, her tears were like daggers in his heart—they hurt like fucking hell. But the only way she was going to feel better was to let this shit out. Ironic realization for him—he did actually see that. But just because you could see what was good for others didn’t mean you had the first goddamned idea how to apply those principles in your own life. And that was a problem for another time anyway.

What mattered right now was Kat. What mattered … was Kat.

Fantastic read! Beckett and Kat just work. Their relationship and the continuation of this series is just inspiring. I loved it, didn't want to put it down. Beckett had a lot of emotional issue build up. Kat had a stalker/crappy ex which she had to take out a restraining order on him. This is the series finale which I don't want to spoil for anyone. I cried my butt off in the end! Five stars for this series!

Shannan☆☆☆☆
Hard to Let Go is the final installment in this series. It can be read as a standalone but it's much better if you read all books within the series.

Hard to Let Go brings together all the things that you've wanted to know throughout the series. It's emotional and fast paced. This one is definitely the most action filled, which I loved. My heart breaks for Beckett and his past. He's afraid to love, afraid he'll lose what matters most. When Kat and Beckett ignite things between them a budding romance evolves. One of the problems being Kat's ex who happens to be at the middle of their investigation.

Hard to Let Go is a fast-paced action romance emotional roller coaster. I loved every minute of it. I couldn't wait for the end to find out who was behind it all. The ending was a perfect fit for this series. It was definitely a character driven read. You are sucked in to the story and the ride is amazing. I can't wait for the spin off series, Raven Riders MC.

Ruthie☆☆☆☆
This has been a fabulous series and I am going to miss these guys – of course the joy of books is that I can just start reading them all over again! You definitely need to read them in order, and as the story unfolds, you will realise just what a great job Ms. Kaye has done in building an amazing plot and keeping the reader engaged in the big issues as well as the wonderful romances.

I was ready for Beckett's story, and it was well worth the wait. Kat was his perfect foil and together they were explosive, hot and just plain adorable. The level of intrigue and danger is high, but never too much, which was a relief. I was so engaged that I read it straight through and missed most of a night's sleep – so maybe plan your time better than I did!

The prologue begins Joker and Carissa's story with them in high school. The prologue sets the background for their lives and hurt my heart. I cried sad tears.

Nearly 10 years later when we catch up with Joker and Carissa their lives are dramatically different. So different she doesn't even recognise him. The relationship and romance that follows was wonderful. They have their ups and downs and the ride is fantastic.

Chaos rescue both Joker and Carissa in different ways and it was great to spend time with Tack and the other members of the club again. I also loved that we got to see Lee and Indy from the Rock Chicks but also other characters from her Dream Man series. This book is heaven for KA fans.

If you, like me, enjoyed the first two Chaos books but felt something was missing, be assured Ride Steady is Kristen Ashley back to her best. It was brilliant.

Ruthie☆☆☆☆☆
There is really only one thing wrong with Ms. Ashley's books – they come to an end. Even with 640 pages – which is generous to a fault – I could have just kept reading – even mundane stuff... That feeling that develops that makes the reader believe that they are pretty much there, living the life is not often achieved. And yet Ms. Ashley slips us into the life of a biker, a single Mum and almost any other character she chooses. Very clever; hugely enjoyable – thank you!

As to the story, well I would say that this is inspired – the haves and the have nots, and how chance of birth can affect everything, but in the end human spirit has the choice. And here the choice is hot, sweet, intense and in the end ... steady. Loved it all, hope you do too!

I was born a middle class white child in Gary, Indiana, USA. One of the last of a dying breed. I nearly killed my mother and myself making it into the world, seeing as I had the umbilical cord wrapped around my neck (already attempting to accessorize and I hadn’t taken my first breath!). Mom says they took me away, put her back in her room, she looked out the window, and Gary was on fire (Dr. King had been assassinated four days before). She remembered thinking it was the end of the world. Quite the dramatic beginning.

Nothing’s changed.

All I’ve ever wanted to do was write (well, and be the Queen of the World, but you gotta start small) and I’ve published a gazillion books and counting (and a gazillion is a lot! shoo!).You can learn about my titles that have been released or that are soon to be released in the Titles section of the website.

Even though I jump genres, there is always a theme to my books…humor (hopefully), engaging characters (again, hopefully) and romance (definitely).

My loves are movies, music, food and fashion and I partake of all of them as often as I can (the middle two more than the others, the former, which takes time I don’t often have and the latter, which takes money I rarely have). In fact, I love food so much, I like to share my good fortune so I put my recipes on offer for you on this page (see top menu and don’t miss them, they’re awesome!).

I grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana and have lived in Denver, Colorado and the West Country of England. Thus I’m blessed to have friends and family around the globe. My family was (is) loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write and growing up it was large and multi-generational. We all lived together on a very small farm in a small farm town in the heartland. I grew up with Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon and Whitesnake (and the wardrobes that matched). Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music, clothes and love was a good way to grow up.

And as I keep growing up, it keeps getting better.

So here I am, thank goodness.

This quick read has a good mix of drama, relationship building and hot, meaningful loving. The dangerous careers that these two live, one on either side of the line, makes for intense bursts of togetherness which maybe are no longer enough – but who is going to change?

Believable and sexy, this is a good read – thank you Ms. Knight!

M/M Erotic Romance author Morticia Knight enjoys hot stories of men loving men forever after. They can be men in uniform, Doms and subs, rock stars or bikers - but they're all searching for the one (or two!) who was meant only for them.

When not indulging in her passion for books, she loves the outdoors, film and music. Once upon a time she was the singer in an indie rock band that toured the West Coast and charted on U.S. college radio. Mastering Inga by Megan Michaels

To Inga, serving wasn’t just a job — it was who she was, right down to her bones. The picture of the tall, dark and handsome physician in the assignment profile intrigued her more than the money he offered, more than the generous live-in accommodations, more even than the chance for her to be a caregiver to his two young children in America. No, the picture of the childrens’ father sparked something else in her — an even deeper desire. A need to serve him. For Inga still yearned to serve a man — in every way he required.

A prominent surgeon, wealthy, attractive, and successful, Garrett seemed to have the perfect life. But underneath all of that, he knew one thing for certain: he was a mess. Losing his wife had been devastating enough, but raising two children — alone — only made recovering from her death that much more difficult. Somehow they’d made it through though, scarred, but together. Now, it was time to do something positive, time to take a step forward. And that started with finding someone who could give his two beloved children what he couldn’t — a woman’s touch, a woman’s caring, and a woman’s love.

The lovely blonde woman from Sweden would do nicely — she loved the children, and they loved her right back. He’d just have to ignore the dramatic curves of her lush body, those gorgeous Nordic blue eyes, and the way her sun-kissed skin seemed to glow when she smiled. Yes, that wouldn’t be a problem at all. Right? Not a problem that is until he learned what she really was, what she really wanted — and what he’d needed all along. Another woman to kneel at his feet, another woman who obeyed every command he’d give her, another woman to worship him in every way he demanded. Perhaps he’d finally found what he was looking for, but he’d never know for sure. Because the one woman he wanted, was the very woman he couldn’t have.

How could he make Inga his, in every way a man could, when she was the caregiver for his own flesh and blood?

Publisher's Warning: Intended for mature readers. 18 and over only!

This is a MF BDSM contemporary romance. Themes include: graphic sexuality, M/s, exhibitionism, orgasm denial, spanking, bondage, anal play and other BDSM activities. If such content might offend you, please do not purchase this book.

WHOOO Boy! Megan Michaels writes a good (and hard handed) alpha Dom. After reading her first in the Service & Submission series I was looking forward to more. Michaels does NOT disappoint with Mastering Inga! I thoroughly enjoyed this book cover to cover. If you're looking for a Dom with a heavy hand and stern beliefs on punishment you've got yourself a great read. Mastering Inga left me blushing profusely, turned on horribly, and rubbing my rump in sympathy for poor Inga!

Inga, a nanny from Sweden, comes to America for a job with a recent widow and his two children. She finds his deceased wife's slave collar while cleaning a closet and discovers her employer may be just what she's always wanted, a Master. While Garret claims not to be a harsh master, he agrees to take Inga in hand and help her find her submission with stern discipline and many butt blistering punishments. Not that Inga minds too much, of course, she did ask to be trained as his slave. Whether she can follow his rules and survive his training with her strong will and smart Danish curses, is to be determined. Fast paced and full of hot & steamy scenes, I found this installment a fun ride!

Angie☆☆☆
This is the second book in the series and I have found that this author likes to just jump right into things. There really isn’t a lot of buildup and some of the story is a little far-fetched. In this book I didn’t really ever feel a connection to Garret. He was so upset about his wife/slave dying but then all of the sudden he was all over Inga. It just didn’t make much sense. If you can get over all that then it was an ok book. I didn’t love it and I didn’t hate it. I just didn’t feel the connection with Garret or the connection between him and Inga and was hoping for more.

Characters: Well written
Sex: Yes
Religious: No
Would I recommend to others: Yes
More than one book in the series: Yes
Genre: M/s /Romance
Would I read more by this author: Yes

This was exactly what our review team is all about – a WICKED READ!

It was hot, hot, down and dirty hot ... and yet the family dynamic made it seem both believable and most definitely highly desirable. It is probably most young men's fantasy to have a Swedish beauty, but here a fully grown man gets to know just how reality turns out.

Smart, fun and highly enjoyable read – thank you Ms. Michaels!

The adventure of writing and getting a book published has been amazing! Reading has always been a passion for me and as far back as I can remember, I have always had at least one book on the go. Erotic romance and spanking romance are the books I crave. Who doesn't love a strong, alpha male who spanks? And if that man can be a cowboy or a pirate, well the perfect situation has been created. The bookcase shelves in our house and my Kindle are filled with BDSM, Spanking Romance, Age Play, DD, D/s, Historical Fiction, Historical Romance and Erotic Romance.
