Sense of Place by N.R. Walker

Designing homes is easy. Finding home is something else entirely.

Thomas Elkin and Cooper Jones finally have the support of their families, and their love grows stronger every day. Now living together, they think nothing can stand in their way.

But there are outside influences trying to pull them apart.

Cooper encounters a man, closer to his age and with connections high up the property development chain, who wants Cooper as his own. Tom encounters discrimination and a hidden agenda from a fellow senior partner who’s trying to take him down.

No matter what the world throws at them, Tom and Cooper are the real deal. Age differences aside, Tom has finally found his sense of place. His one true center, his home.

Sense of Place is the third and final installment in the Thomas Elkin series. In my opinion they should not be read as standalones. They need to be read in order as intended by the author.

Now that family is on board with their relationship, well at least tolerant, it seems outside forces are at work to pull them apart. Cooper gets his first contract and the contract he's working for seems to be a little more hands on than Cooper or Tom like. To do his job and not risk his reputation Cooper has to work closely with the man.

Tom is a pillar in the architecture community and within his own company but someone is doing everything in his power to make Tom look bad. They all aren't as tolerant as Tom thought about his sexual orientation. Tom has a decision to make, will he fight or leave the job he's known most of his life?

The age difference thing is popping back up when Tom is turning fifty, which is weighing on his mind heavily. Cooper puts his mind at ease, again.

“You know what a sense of place is?”
“It's when the place you're in feels like home. Where you're at peace.”
“You're my sense of place, Cooper.”

This was the perfect ending to the series. I couldn't have asked for anything more. N.R. Walker has moved up on my list of authors to watch.

This book picks up right after the end of the second book. I didn’t think this trilogy could get better but it sure the heck did!!! I just love, love, love Thomas and Cooper. When the crap hits the fan in this book, I was a little afraid; I don’t want ANYTHING to happen to these two. I love them, I feel like I have been through everything with them and I can’t stand to see either of them hurt. This book was just perfect, it brought everything full circle. I LOVED how Jennifer and Thomas went up against that jerk Robert. I was cheering them on! Then Cooper, god love him, he is just a wonderful little sh*t!!! I loved this trilogy and it will be in my re-read pile. Great epilogue too!

Characters: Well written and believable characters
Sex: Yes
Religious: No
Would I recommend to others: Yes
More than one book in the series: Yes
Genre: M/M Romance
Would I read more by this author: Yes

What a fabulous conclusion to the trilogy. Do start at the beginning and enjoy the whole story – and my review below assumes that you have.

As things settle down with their families, Thomas and Cooper now face different challenges. However, they are truly a strong and trusting couple, and whilst they may not always get things right, they do talk it through. It is definitely to Cooper's advantage that Tom has been through the same career path and understands the demands of being a new architect. They continue to be hot, sexy and have an amazing chemistry that definitely heats up the reader too! I loved that we get to see them over a period of time, and see everything unfold and develop.

I really just want to go back to Elements of Retrofit and read all three books again – delicious. Thank you Ms. Walker for two very special guys and their story!

N.R. Walker is an Australian author, who loves her genre of gay romance. She loves writing and spends far too much time doing it, but wouldn't have it any other way.

She is many things; a mother, a wife, a sister, a writer. She has pretty, pretty boys who live in her head, who don't let her sleep at night unless she gives them life with words.

She likes it when they do dirty, dirty things...but likes it even more when they fall in love.

She used to think having people in her head talking to her was weird, until one day she happened across other writers who told her it was normal.

She's been writing ever since...
