Without another word to me, he picked up the handset again and clicked it. "Jack, after you take out the trash, there're two women at table fifteen. Tell them that King will be taking Jena home and that their tab is on the house."

"No problem, boss."

King's eyes never left my face during this exchange. When he was done, he dropped the radio on the desk again.

"Now, you're girls are taken care of and you and I need to have a chat."

I straightened my shoulders. "Like I said, King, I appreciate your help but I'm leaving."

"Sit. Your. Ass. Down. Jena," he barked.

"Fuck you, King!" I shouted.

Suddenly he was right in front of me, no, practically on top of me, his left arm wrapping around me and pulling me tightly against his body. His right hand twisted in my hair, yanking my head back so hard it almost hurt.

I didn't understand why, but I felt that tugging somewhere else on my body. Somewhere much lower.

"Don't say it unless you mean it, darlin'," he snarled.

Then he kissed me.

WOW, this is one of those books that will have you on the edge of you seat from the very first page until the end and what a story it is. Jena is with her BFFs for a girl’s night out when she is noticed by a man that keeps staring at her. When Jena looks his way, he is still staring. When he makes his way over to her, they hit it off and a new relationship has begun. After months of dating and Jena is finding herself falling for Justin, he is killed and she is devastated and doesn't want to do anything. With the help of King, Justin's friend who he never mentioned, Jena begins to live again. And King wants her and she is finding it hard to resist him. King is a total alpha male who is strong-willed and protective of Jena. While Jena is strong-willed and over-protective of her independence. King only wants to keep her safe and the head-butting that they do seems to draw them closer. When Jena learns the truth about Justin and King, can she ever trust anything he says again? And why has one of her friends just dropped off her radar? This story is full of suspense, a little romance and maybe a happy ending for all. This is a first for me from C.C. Wood and I can't wait for more from her. The next book will be about Tia, Jena's cousin, and there is a little about her story at the end.

This is a good, tension filled novel. It is hot and steamy, but also contains a complex and entertaining plot, with some fabulous twists and turns. It forces the reader to think very hard about what is right and what is not, and how far can forgiveness be supplemented by love, or not. I had to just keep reading until I'd finished, as I was desperate to find out what happened, and know that it did turn out all right in the end. Although maybe not everyone's definition of right!

Good, suspenseful romance, with a good dose of excitement – in and out of the bedroom!
