A Good Sub Would by Sierra Cartwright

Shelby, a wanna-be sub, hasn’t found a Dom strong enough to push past her need to be in control. Her experiences as a sub have been yawn-inducing. She’s fantasized plenty, though, about Trevor Lawton, one of Dark Haven’s legendary, mouthwateringly firm Doms.

As the stakes get higher at the charity poker match, Dom Trevor Lawton is fascinated by the woman kneeling across the table from him. Problem is, she’s not a good sub. Oh, she tries, and she’s lovely. But she’s not very good at following orders. The woman needs a firm, unyielding hand... One like his.

Note: A Good Sub Would was previously released as part of the Doms of Dark Haven 2: Western Night anthology.

This book was SO good. It was a nice breather for me even though I've been reading quite a few BDSM books lately it seems. The chemistry between the main characters was excellent and I loved the way he helped give her exactly what she wanted without having to be told what it was.

I will say the naughty scenes lacked... heat for me. They were more methodical than sexy to me as there didn't seem to be a lot of emotion or feelings involved.

The play scenes were awesome and redeeming though. I really enjoyed this book and read it in one sitting because I couldn't put it down.

Shelby is a part time sub; she only dabbles and comes to see her friend/Dom a few times a year. This year there is a western-themed poker tournament at the BDSM club and when the game gets tight and down to two men the stakes are raised. What is at stake? A week with Dom Trevor, man, what a way to spend a week off! Trevor is fascinated with Shelby and knows he can pack as much training into the week as he can to make her a good sub. Holy crap do they have a great week. I was actually off for a week when I read this and my week was by far the most boring week ever compared to her week! LOL. While things weren’t as hot and as descriptive as I normally like it still worked for me and I really enjoyed this book. If you like BDSM books without a lot of angst or drama this is the book for you.

Characters: Well written and believable characters
Sex: Yes
Religious: No
Would I recommend to others: Yes
More than one book in the series: Not sure
Genre: BDSM/ Romance
Would I read more by this author: Yes

Ms. Cartwright has us well and truly invested in the Doms and subs at Dark Haven, and Master Trevor has been waiting a while for someone to take his interest properly – Is Shelby the one? ...well she certainly wants to try and find out! This is hot, fun and fabulously entertaining. It is a good story with just the ending any reader would want. I loved it!
