Strange Bedfellows by Cardeno C. Blog Tour

Can the billionaire son of a Democratic president build a family with the congressman son of a Republican senator? Forget politics, love makes strange bedfellows.

As the sole offspring of the Democratic United States president and his political operative wife, Trevor Moga was raised in an environment driven by the election cycle. During childhood, he fantasized about living in a made-for-television family, and as an adult, he rejected all things politics and built a highly successful career as far from his parents as possible.

Newly elected congressman Ford Hollingsworth is Republican royalty. The grandson of a revered governor and son of a respected senator, he was bred to value faith, family, and the goal of seeing a Hollingsworth in the White House.

When Trevor and Ford meet, sparks fly and a strong friendship is formed. But can the billionaire son of a Democratic president build a family with the congressman son of a Republican senator? Forget politics, love makes strange bedfellows.

“There’s nothing to be embarrassed about.”

Arching his eyebrows, Ford said, “I think nearly choking to death in the middle of a blow job and then coughing, crying, and sniffling in front of the guy I’m trying to impress qualifies as embarrassing.”

Trevor’s lips twitched. “When you say it that way, I guess you’re right.” He laughed. “It is pretty embarrassing. Funny too.”

“Hey.” Ford lightly smacked Trevor’s knee. “I thought you were trying to console me.”

“I’m laughing with you and consoling you at the same time. Besides, this wasn’t your fault.”

Ford darted his gaze from left to right and then looked up at Trevor again. “I’m the only one down here. Whose fault is it?”

“Mine, of course.” One side of Trevor’s lips curled up and his eyes twinkled mischievously.

“How do you figure this was your fault?” he asked, knowing he was stepping into a setup of some sort.

“Well, I’m the one with the monster cock.”

I am a big fan of Cardeno C.'s work, so it was no surprise that this started off as a great read – but – for me, this became an absolute winner of a book as it progressed.

It was undoubtedly steamy, enticingly romantic and beautifully written. There were moments where there was fear, but due to political and religious opinion, not crazed lunatics or inevitable crashes. No, just the things that life throws at two people (somewhat amplified, admittedly) who try and make a go of things.

What I just adored though was the humour. There are some really, really funny dialogues which brightened up my day and really made me chuckle. I don't recall ever being so amused by CC in the past, but this book is just wonderfully funny. I might add it was subtle, clever humour (well maybe not the pet stories ...) which appealed perfectly to my British sense of fun.

So thank you for a lovely, funny, sexy and romantic novel. For me, this was escapism of the very best variety!

When Ford, the son of a Republican Senator, goes home with an unnamed man, his only thought is getting off and leaving, but what he is not prepared for is the man he's with knowing who he is. Ford is buried so deep in the closet he fears anyone ever having an idea he's in there. Trevor, the Democratic POTUS son, knows exactly what he is doing when he sees Ford in a local gay bar. In most relationships your voter’s registration card doesn't matter, but for Ford and Trevor it means everything. Can Ford trust no one will find out? Can Trevor stand being back in the closet?

I really enjoyed Strange Bedfellows. I honestly didn't know if I would with the political aspects of the story line. It played a role but it wasn't overbearing which I liked. I love that Ford was such a “church-raised, god-fearing” intellectual man but could be so naïve about things in general when it came to living his life. Trevor had such a sweetness and desire to care for Ford. They made for a great, steamy combination.

My ultimate favorite line:
“When I remembered God made me as I am and I accepted that this is part of His plan for me, I found happiness.”

If you are a fan of Cardeno C then you truly don't want to miss out of Ford and Trevor!

Cardeno C. – CC to friends – is a hopeless romantic who wants to add a lot of happiness and a few "awwws" into a reader's day. Writing is a nice break from real life as a corporate type and volunteer work with gay rights organizations. Cardeno's stories range from sweet to intense, contemporary to paranormal, long to short, but they always include strong relationships and walks into the happily-ever-after sunset.

Cardeno's Home, Family, and Mates series have received awards from Love Romances and More Golden Roses, Rainbow Awards, the Goodreads M/M Romance Group, and various reviewers. But even more special to CC are heartfelt reactions from readers, like, "You bring joy and love and make it part of the every day."
