All of Me by Cardeno C. Blog Tour

To bond with his destined mate, an Alpha wolf must look past what he sees and trust what he feels.

Bonded by their parents before they were conceived, wolf shifters Abel and Kai adored each other since they were children. As teens, the two future Alphas took the next step in their bonding process and vowed to remain true to one another until Kai came of age. But when tragedy struck, Abel felt betrayed and ran from Kai instead of completing their mating.

Abel never stops yearning for the man who was supposed to lead by his side and after years without contact, Kai returns, broken and on death's door. If Abel wants to fulfill their destiny and merge their packs, he'll need to look past what he saw and trust his heart.

“Abel?” he whispered and skimmed his hand over my beard. “Is that really you?”

I opened my eyes and set sight on the fully grown version of his human form. His thick eyebrows and long eyelashes were the same. So were his full lips. But his nose had a new bump in the middle, like it’d been broken and healed wrong, and there was a scar across his forehead. I didn’t realize I was tracing it with my finger until he spoke.

“Not so pretty anymore, am I?”

I flicked my gaze toward his, but he was looking away.

“You’re even more gorgeous now than you were last time I saw you.” I cupped his chin and raised it so I could look into his eyes. “Your features are just as delicate, but this”—I ghosted my hand over his nose—“and this”—I did the same to the mark on his forehead—“make you look rugged too, tough. I like the scars.”

“They’re ugly,” he said brokenly. “Outside and in, the scars are ugly.” He ran his gaze over my face. “Not like you.” He combed his fingers through my hair. “I missed your curls.” He stroked my sideburns. “Still chocolate brown everywhere, no silver yet.” He touched my cheek and upper lip. “The beard’s new. I like it.” He rubbed his thumb under my eyes. “I never met anyone with eyes this shade of blue, you know that? They’re like the ocean after a storm, swirls of gray all mixed in.” He moved one finger down my nose to my lips. “Still straight.” He flicked his gaze to mine and then looked away again. “You’re perfect. No scars on you.”

“You’re not looking hard enough,” I said hoarsely. “The scars are there.” I swallowed down my emotion. “And I’m the farthest thing from perfect, Kai.”

He raised his gaze. “Not to me. You were always perfect for me.”

I am not a big reader of shifter books. I am very, very picky when it comes to this genre. When I saw this one I jumped at the chance to read and review. I love pretty much everything CC writes why would this be different? It wasn't. I loved it. The bond was started before Abel and Kai were born, and continued through their stages in life until Kai betrayed Abel on what should have been a special day. The emotional toll the rejection Abel felt from Kai's actions was heart breaking and life changing for him. The reason Kai had to betray Abel's trust was honorable, now if only Abel sees it that way.

Shifter books may become my new go to genre if they are all written like this one was. I fell right into the story, I was worried I wouldn't be able to, but I did without issue. CC's writing just pulls you into that world that is created. I am glad I jumped out of my comfort zone for this one. I may need to find more of CC's shifter books. I'm hoping this wasn't a one-time jump.

Cardeno C. is a one of my favourite authors in the MM genre, and even if it were 1,000 pages long, I would want more! The writing style is so smooth and free-flowing that a short story really does pass in a moment – but it is an enjoyable werewolf alpha, second chance love story.

The dynamics and politics of werewolf society are brought into this plot – and to be honest, they are somewhat complex to deal with in a short story! However, I did enjoy it, and was glad that as the story developed we got the twists turned around and sorted out.

I have a confession. I agreed to review this solely on the basis of the author and I had no idea what it was about or that it was a shifter book. If I'd known I would not have agreed to read it because I don't read paranormal books. But guess what? It was great!

Abel and Kai are destined to be together but when it comes time for their bonding when Kai turns 18, betrayal pulls them apart. All of Me pulled at my heart strings and the first scene with Abel and Kai after their time apart made my heart weep. Abel and Kai are strong alphas and they complement each other beautifully.

If you're like me and you don't read shifter books I'd say give All of Me a shot. I'll definitely be checking out books in this genre from now on.

Cardeno C. – CC to friends – is a hopeless romantic who wants to add a lot of happiness and a few "awwws" into a reader's day. Writing is a nice break from real life as a corporate type and volunteer work with gay rights organizations. Cardeno's stories range from sweet to intense, contemporary to paranormal, long to short, but they always include strong relationships and walks into the happily-ever-after sunset.

Cardeno's Home, Family, and Mates series have received awards from Love Romances and More Golden Roses, Rainbow Awards, the Goodreads M/M Romance Group, and various reviewers. But even more special to CC are heartfelt reactions from readers, like, "You bring joy and love and make it part of the every day."
