Ricochet by Heather C. Leigh Series Review Tour

Locked & Loaded

Rick "Ricochet" Brennan served eight years as an elite Marine special ops Force Recon soldier. After an injury, and the terrible memories from that night, he retires and goes to work for his former Command Officer, Howard "Mack" McEvoy, at his training center in Atlanta.

Sanctum MMA appears on the surface to be a normal gym, training elite fighters to be the best. Except each trainer, hand-picked by Mack, possesses a special background that allows Mack to run one of the best-kept secrets in the country.

When twenty-four year old Quinn Wallace finally escapes her abusive husband, she turns to her father’s old Marine Corps buddy, Mack, for help. Broken and skittish, Quinn finds herself surrounded by large, intimidating men— men who could easily overpower her. She avoids them the best she can, but when Rick turns out to be more than just a rough fighter with bruised knuckles, she finds herself wondering if she can allow herself to trust again.

Ricochet is a full-length novel to be released as three parts.

***This book contains hot sweaty men, sexy scenes for those over 18, and uncomfortable, sometimes violent scenes.***

Shannan☆☆☆☆
Ricochet revolves around Rick "Ricochet" Brennan. He is part of Force Recon, basically a group of men from different military branches or agencies working missions for Mack. All of the men have different talents and skills working well when put together. All of them have some sort of MMA skill which they use while they use Mack's MMA training facility, Sanctum, as their headquarters. Ricochet earned his name by bouncing from one woman's bed to another. Is there a woman who can finally settle Ricochet?

Annette Quinn Hardy hates the life she is living. Her husband Travis is abusive and mean. When she finally has had enough she leaves. She gets help from Mack, a new job at Sanctum is just what she needs. She's scared and timid around the fighting and the muscled up men. Can she ever move on from the damage Travis caused?

I loved this read. There was action, super-hot men, suspense, a sweet love story. Ricochet had it all. With an ending like that I can't wait to see what happens next.

This is the first novella in a series of three. They are all now available, so no need to panic about having to wait!

This is a great start to a new serial, with two fabulous characters who bring their pasts firmly into the present with them. Obviously we know more than they do about each other, so at times it is incredibly intense. It is also a testament to the strength of humankind that they both still can feel strong emotions, in spite of their histories. So glad that book 2 is waiting on my Kindle!

Quinn has been living in hell since her father died and she married the man of her dreams. Or so she thought, Travis is an abusive man and he loves the control it gives him over Quinn. After two years of finally running away from him, she ends up in Georgia working for Mack, her father’s best friend. She didn’t tell anyone about Travis because she fears he will find her and will succeed in killing her. She meets the guys that work at the gym, they are all big, strong and terrifying to her. When she meets Rick, she can’t believe her eyes. He is the best looking man she has ever seen and her body’s reaction to him is unreal. Rick is the ladies’ man, with a different woman almost every night. She is so scared of everyone she doesn’t know, so she keeps to herself. Will she give in to her feelings for Rick? Can Rick deal with these new feelings towards Quinn? Will Quinn stick around in the end? This is a great story and I can’t wait to start book 2.

Parts of this book made me feel ill, but then things started to get better for both Rick and Quinn. I have to say the sexual tension was CRAZY... I was just waiting for them to finally break and give in to their desires... And when it happened it certainly didn't let down.

I loved the way Rick was so gentle with Quinn and took his time with her knowing she needed extra care. Quinn blossomed beautifully as she tried to get over her abusive past while in the hands of such a tender, yet fierce man.

I couldn't wait to move from Part One to Two since the Cliffy SUCKED (in a good way I suppose).

Johanna☆☆☆☆
Easy four stars! I loved watching Quinn and Rick dance around each other. Each one realizing that the other may be their match. Neither one coming from situations that were great. Quinn has a violent husband and she has escaped him. Rick has PTSD and barely sleeps because of a mission that got screwed up. This first part was enjoyable and I can't wait to read on!

I was so mad at Quinn at the end of Locked & Loaded. She left? How could she leave? I love the path Ms. Leigh took me on with this one. Quinn is a woman with a tortured past, how can she move on without cleaning that past up? I just wanted to hug Rick through most of this.

It’s a quick read; that is my only negative about the read. I could read about these characters forever, I enjoyed it that much. I must be on a mercenary/military kick lately and this fit into that category perfectly.

I need to know what happens next!! Rick and Quinn have to get their HEA!

This is the second novella in a series of three. They are all now available, so no need to panic about having to wait! You do need to read Locked & Loaded first.

We now witness what time apart does to our leads, and the dual POV fills in any gaps. It is good to get all that angst out ... I think! Quinn did make me feel that maybe I wasn't quite as paranoid about relationships as I clearly could be! And pretty much, just like them a conversation here and there could clear up a lot of misunderstandings – makes for good reading though, and then drama ... thank goodness I have the final installment to hand. (ps MMA ex military men are HOT, even when being cold!)

Mary☆☆☆☆
Quinn ran after the night she spent with Rick. She decided that she needed to fix her past before she could have a future, preferably with Rick. While she was gone, she was getting her father’s affairs in order and to sell his cabin. After six weeks away and she returns back to work, Rick ignores her. She knows he is hurting and she hopes she can repair the friendship if not more. When they finally talk and things become heated, they can't resist the electricity flowing between them. When she gets a call from the lawyer’s office about a paper that wasn't signed to finish the divorce paperwork, she doesn't think anything about it. She will see Rick after she meets the lawyer and hopefully they can continue things. When she doesn't call Rick and he begins to panic, he goes to Mara and Clint's house and he is frantic. Wanting to know where she is. When Mara doesn't know and he tells her that she went to the lawyer’s office, Mara fears the worst. When they finally find the lawyer’s office and Mack's truck, Quinn's purse and belongings are there but she isn't. Then Rick sees something on the ground, he prays it's not what he thinks it is. But he knows it is her blood. And Mara says that it was Travis, Quinn's soon to be ex-husband and this is a shocker for Rick but he must find her. This ending will have you in tears and I am loving this series and starting book 3 as soon as I post this review.

I couldn't wait to read what happened after part one... Like literally had to start reading it even if it was already past bedtime.

Once again, another super thrilling installment. The suspense is great while the sexual tension is out of this world. And again, once they finally get over their stubbornness, they are unbelievably hot.

I have to say the characters were very well written, they were realistic and relatable. They didn't make crazy decisions, but ones that people in their situations would make. It was nice to be sucked into the book and barely able to put it down until I'd finished it. (Hey, we all need to eat and sleep, right?)

And another mega cliffy... So of course, I had to get the next one...

Johanna☆☆☆☆
This is a three part serial that needs to be read in order to get the most enjoyment. I loved part two. In the last book, Quinn decides that she has to get some of the stuff from her past taken care of so that Rick can be her future. So she takes a six week hiatus to get certain things in order but didn't let Rick know any of this. His nickname Ricochet leads her to believe that he just leaves one girl’s bed to go to another. Both are certainly starting to see something happening between them which makes part two so good. Overall entertainment is four stars.

“Hey,” he said calmly. “Why aren’t you resting?” Rick put his hands on her shoulders, gently massaging her arms.

Quinn’s eyes grew large and went to his gloved hands.

Fuck, she hates fighting. Now I know why she looks freaked out.

Rick yanked his hands away and took a step back. “I didn’t mean for you to see me fight, Quinn. I’m sorry.”

To his surprise, Quinn stepped forward, closing the distance Rick had put between them. He watched as she hesitantly lifted her arms, placing her hands on his sweat-slicked chest. Her eyes met his and his breath left in a sharp huff. The fear he had expected to see wasn’t there. No… Quinn’s eyes were dark and glistening with lust.

“I didn’t know that watching you fight would be so comforting. It makes me feel safe, and… turned on,” she murmured. Rick shivered as her hands ran down his torso, moving over each defined muscle until they were resting on either side of his waist.

“Turned on?” Rick swallowed, barely able to speak with Quinn touching him like that. She was only just about healed from the attack. He figured it would be months, if not longer before she’d be interested in pursuing anything physical.

“Yes, turned on.” Quinn’s fingers dug into Rick’s waist, her thumbs making small circles on the ‘v’ shaped ridges of his lower abs. Scorching waves of pleasure rippled down his spine, instantly making his cock come to life.

“Jesus,” he muttered softly. Using every last bit of willpower he had, Rick captured Quinn’s wrists, removing her hands from his body. “Not here, doll.” He glanced around, but none of the other fighters were looking their way. Still, he’d kill them if they saw the lust in Quinn’s eyes. That was for him, and him alone.

Quinn pouted, crossing her arms and glaring like a kid denied her favorite candy.

He couldn’t help himself. The sight of this tiny thing trying to look intimidating was funny. Rick laughed. “You’re too much, doll.” The corner of her mouth twitched up—it was just a hint of a smile, but it made Rick’s day. Quinn hadn’t smiled once since his team rescued her. Seeing some of her personality coming back flooded him with emotion.

“I don't give up. Almost a decade in the Marines, dozens of covert operations, and I've never left a man behind or left a mission incomplete.”

I loved the ride this series took me on. The suspense, the angst, the emotion made for a good read. I think Extraction Point was my favorite of the three. It had the most suspense, the most action. I was sitting on the edge of my seat waiting to see what was going to happen to Quinn. The emotion portrayed by Rick while looking for Quinn was heart breaking and written so well you could almost feel his pain.

Overall very well done. I would recommend to anyone that likes a suspenseful read, with a little love thrown in.

Ruthie☆☆☆☆
This is the final novella in the trilogy. You do need to read Locked & Loaded, and Friendly Fire first – or it will be deeply confusing!

Overall this trilogy provides a really good read. It combines sexy and sweet, with hot and dangerous. The danger here is totally unforeseen for Rick, yet sadly all too familiar to Quinn. The buildup from both an MMA ability and also ex-Marine perspective is great, as they must be able to deal with the situation ... but we are made to suffer just about long enough! Amazing the feelings that surface when push comes to shove.

Load your Kindle with all three and have a fabulous read. I for one am glad that I discovered this author, and will be adding her other series to my tbr list.

Mary☆☆☆☆
This one picks up where book 2 ended. Quinn has been kidnapped by Travis and has beaten her so bad. She has one eye swollen shut and the other is almost closed and she hurts all over. While Rick is ready to go after her, he doesn't know where to look. He needs the help of his military friends at the gym. With Mack in charge as always, they form a plan and start searching. When they find them Rick is ready to go but Mack has to calm him down. When they get to her, Quinn is in bad shape. She has to spend a week in the hospital. While the other members of the team are searching for him, Rick just wants him gone for good. Will he try to kidnap Quinn again? Can Rick protect her? This is a great story and the ending is perfect. Can't wait to read more from this author.

This was quite possibly my favorite part of the whole series. Maybe that's cause we get to see them together and happy (and a few HOT HOT HOT scenes).

As the conclusion, I can't say I was happy with how calmly it all came around. I wanted to see Rick get his hands on that turd of an ex of hers, but all in all it ended well and it was well played.

This part was hard for me because I didn't like seeing Quinn hurt (mentally, not physically like the other parts)... I completely understood her turmoil and her internal debates though. I felt so bad for Rick, but loved that he did his best to be there for her in any way she needed.

I can say that this is definitely an author I would read again in an instant. Sucked me in and left me happy. Beautiful job Ms. Leigh.

Johanna☆☆☆☆
This series was really great! I enjoyed all three parts to this series, and will definitely put this author on my to read list. Quinn and Rick found their common ground and sometimes feelings are all you have to go by. Quinn was kidnapped at the end of the last part and this part was all about the extraction. Loved the use of the military term, and all the covers were pretty hot! This part finished the series and completed the story. I enjoyed Quinn and Rick’s story, hope we get stories from the rest of the guys! Overall entertainment for the book is four stars!
