Wicked Reads Reviews - Shooting Star by Arianne Richmonde

Meet two dysfunctional products of Hollywood.

Star Davis and Jake Wild: they’ve met their match.

19-year-old, Oscar winning Star Davis is an A-list movie star. Hell-raisingly beautiful, she tosses men aside like used Kleenex. She commands 20 million per movie—or at least did until drugs, alcohol, wild partying, and a police arrest sent her kicking and screaming into rehab.

Now she’s out, squeaky clean, and determined to win the role she was born to play: the lead in Skye’s The Limit—ready to re-conquer Hollywood.

26-year-old British director Jake Wild lives up to his name: he’s the wildest player in town. He’s also Hollywood royalty. From a family dynasty of powerful directors and producers, Jake’s home is a movie set. With reams of hot starlets at his beck and call, Jake can get any woman he wants. But with his new movie, Skye’s The Limit in pre-production, he’s decided it’s time to get serious and change his philandering ways.

Star is “liability on legs” and Jake doesn’t want her near his precious movie. But Star has wily ways of getting what she wants. And apart from the role of Skye, what she wants is Jake right where he belongs:

Under her thumb.

Lights, camera, action . . .

But the action is not what Jake expected.

**Due to sexy strong language and situations this book is recommended for readers 18+**

This was a quick, sexy read that I couldn't put down once I started it. Normally I don't relate to a lot of characters that are under 20 (or even early 20s) so I hesitated going into this story. To my surprise, I loved Star. Then again I love the way Arianne has always been able to suck the reader in to her stories and make you want to know more.

Jake is equally as messed up as Star. Both grew up in the limelight and both have a ton of baggage and issues because of it. However, both are now working towards getting their lives together and stay on the up and up. However, together they spark and they both have their own agenda, which complicates things.

I can't wait for the second part to see where Jake and Star go.

This is the first in three novellas, so don't expect the story to be complete - it is an introduction and taste of the heat to come (I hope!). We have the scene set up with the two main protagonists, Star and Jake. Cleverly as they are manipulated in the present, we get to see how much they are a product of their environment and background. Any freedom they have is illusory at best, and this has caused them to make poor choices in an attempt to regain control. As they get to know each other a little, their respect grows ... and then maybe shatters again. But no doubt book two will unveil more of their story.

Earning Yancy by C.C. Wood is Now Available

A year after her divorce from her manipulative, sweet-talking ex-husband, Yancy Stevens has settled into life as a single mother to her eighteen month old little girl. She enjoys her work, loves her daughter, and has wonderful girlfriends to lean on. While her life isn’t perfect, she’s finally back in control of it.

There’s just one problem: Charles Faulkner. Her new colleague in the office is arrogant and can’t seem to remember her name. However, it’s probably for the best that he’s a jerk because he’s also the most handsome man she’s ever seen. If she didn’t detest him, she would become a bumbling idiot every time they spoke.

After a heated argument, his attitude toward her changes dramatically and sparks of a different sort begin to fly. Against her better judgment, Yancy takes the risk and gives Charles a chance. As she learns more about him, she truly wants to let go of her past, drop her defenses and try to trust him. It’s a scary proposition for a woman who’s learned the hard way, if something seems too good to be true, it probably is.

A native Texan, C.C. grew up either reading or playing the piano.  Years later, she’s still not grown up and doing the same things.  Since the voices in her head never shut up, C.C. decided to try and profit from their crazy stories and started writing books.

Now that she has a baby girl at home, C.C.’s non-writing time is usually spent cleaning up poopy diapers or feeding the poop machine.  Sometimes she teaches piano, cooks, or spends time bugging her hubby and two beagles.
