Wicked Reads Reviews – In His Shadow by Tiffany Snow

Ivy Mason is hiding—from her past, from herself, and from anyone who could love her. The only kind of love she’s ever known hurts, leaving scars on her body and soul. Now, her world may be boring and predictable, but that’s exactly what she wants. Until Devon Clay walks into her life.

A lonely man in a deadly profession, Devon works as an agent for an underground British agency known only as the Shadow. Nothing about him is safe or ordinary. The danger that consumes his life turns into an addiction Ivy can’t resist...even if it proves fatal.

As Ivy’s past begins to catch up with her, she wonders if love really is the twisted thing she’s always thought it was. Maybe it could be more with this man, who’s shown her that she doesn’t need to protect herself from everyone. Is what she feels for Devon worth the risk? He may save her heart or break it, if she manages to stay alive.

Shelby☆☆☆
In His Shadow was just "meh" for me.
There was mystery and intrigue, romance and sex, and a LOT of frustration on my part.
In her career as a bank teller, Ivy has a regular customer who she describes as “dangerous.” Devon is handsome, rich, and only allows Ivy to wait on him. While she agrees that he's good-looking, she doesn't want anything to do with him.
The story begins when Ivy is sent, by her boss, to bring documents to an elderly customer for the bank. Mr. Geller gives Ivy a family heirloom, as he has no family to pass it along to – and he really likes Ivy.
Upon leaving Mr. Geller's, Ivy goes out to dinner with best-friend Logan and his friend – lo and behold, Devon is sitting with them.

Lots of danger, suspense, and erotic scenes commence.
I really enjoyed the story (the actual events, not the romance portion) – it was very involved, dark, and intriguing.
What I didn't like was how Ivy:
a) Quickly trusted EVERYONE she meets. (Devon, Agent Lane, etc)
b) Quickly turns her best-friend away.
c) Quickly fell in love, even AFTER KNOWING what she was getting involved with.
d) Had NO REGARD whatsoever for her well-being (3 events come to mind, but not listing spoilers)

Overall, this was an interesting romantic-suspense story that is filled with unusual characters, interesting events, and some sexy time with a tall, dark, handsome Hero.

In His Shadow is a romantic spy thriller. A fast paced, easy read with lots going on. Ms. Snow does a good job keeping you guessing but some of the events are a bit far-fetched and I did have to suspend my disbelief a little more than I normally would have.

Ivy is another incredibly beautiful heroine who has men fawning over her everywhere. This book is full of male characters and aside from Ivy, the women seem to be an afterthought.

This is the first book in a trilogy but we are not left with a cliff hanger however we are left wanting to know what is next for Ivy. I look forward to reading the rest of this trilogy.

An exciting blurb of a scared woman and a man she can’t resist who happens to be a spy.

The book was for super fact paced and action paced as you would expect from a spy novel, but there was for sure things that were just too out there for me. I will say that what kinda of bugged me mainly is the way the story is written – I am still not fully sure who the main character is Devon or Ivy even though the series is called Tangled Ivy. I will be reading book 2 though to see where it all goes. An overall good read.

Tiffany loves to read and has been reading romance novels since she was way too young to read such things. She has an unhealthy obsession for all things Doctor Who, prefers Pepsi to Coke and Absolut to both, thinks men who drink girly cocktails are wusses, has learned to never stop believing in her beloved St. Louis Cardinals, and can recite the entire scripts of When Harry Met Sally and Apollo 13. George Washington is cool, Bon Jovi still rocks the house, and Bruce Willis is the ultimate alpha-male hero.
