Master Over You by Cerys du Lys & Ethan Winters Blog Tour

There's a monster in every closet, and I'm in yours.

My name is Noah. I'm not a nice person. This isn't cupcakes and candyland, love.

I'll take you, break you, and offer you to the highest bidder without a second thought. You're mine now. It's business, nothing personal. You wouldn't understand, and I'm not going to explain it. Sorry, love, you don't mean a thing to me.

Just know that there's a monster in every closet, and I'm in yours.

There is a light at the end of every dark tunnel, no matter how dim it may seem.

Author Note -
This dark romance novel contains themes that may be discomforting to some people. If you are sensitive to depictions of violence, then this book is not recommended for you.

This was a unique story, but it took me a while to get "into" it.
After reading it, and digesting it for a week I've realized this is a freaking fantastic book that stayed with me...
This is just a CRAZY book, told in 3 different Points of View – which all flavor the story differently.

I'd like to issue a warning: this is NOT dark Erotica – it is just Dark period. There is a touch of dub-con, lots of brutal violence (I mean that honestly – my stomach was really affected by a few scenes), themes of kidnapping, rape, etc. Please, take this warning seriously!!!

Now, most "dark" romance involves a female victim...which, this story fits the bill. Until it doesn't.
Noah is a "shepherd" of women, he kidnaps them, trains them, and then sells them. He's NOT nice, he isn't sweet, and he DOESN'T love. Period. He has a job, he does it, and he does it well.
While he's starting to embark on his newest trainee, Chastity White, something odd happens...

“You either have a monster in your closet, or you are the monster in someone's closet. There is nothing else. That's the only rule in this fucked up game of life.”

I LOVED the writing, I LOVED the POV changes (they were so fascinating), I LOVED the way this story was told (you'll know what I'm talking about, once you read it), I LOVED the characters! I will definitely read more by these 2 authors.

It took me awhile to get into this book, but I found that to be the case with previous books by Cerys du Lys so I figured once it finally got going I would enjoy it. This book is dark, not erotic dark, just dark. I personally didn’t think it was very dark, but maybe I just have a tougher stomach than others? Sure there were disturbing scenes and things happening but I expect that when I read a dark book. I thought the book was going to take one path and it totally ended up taking another, and I enjoyed that path a lot! This book is intense at times and then at other times I was actually bored and just wanted things to move faster! I will say at the end of the book I was happy I stuck with it and enjoyed the story and the different points of view.

Characters: The characters were well written
Sex: Yes
Religious: No
Would I recommend to others: Yes
More than one book in the series: Not sure
Genre: Dark
Would I read more by this author: Yes

Master Over You started off slow, but it did pick up as I read on. I enjoyed the way it was written with different point of views. With each author writing as a different character, it helped the characters' personality to really come alive. This isn't your typical romance novel. Master Over You is violent, dark and erotic, but there were times I found the story to drag again. I was glad I stuck with it because I did enjoy being "taken" by Noah and Angeline.

Ethan Winters

Ethan is a gentleman, an author, a lover, and occasionally a rake, a cad, and a dom, but only if you've been good (punishing good girls is more entertaining than punishing the naughty ones). He lives in the Greater Boston area in a small town in New Hampshire where he grew up.

He has a penchant for exploring and traveling, with a passion for the unique and interesting. His interests include reading, exercising, laying on the beach, spanking (good girls), romancing, smiling, going for walks that lead to nowhere, hiking, bondage, and one day he would love to travel to Alaska.

His writing delves into the human experience, with a preference towards a psychological thriller twist. He loves mystery, dark romance, and suspense. While some of his writing may be twisted, he believes in romantic true love, above all things. His books include raw, real emotions, good and bad. He believes there is a light at the end of every dark tunnel, and his writing hopes to encompass that.

He loves happy endings, kissing, and a focus on the ordinary turned extraordinary.

  1. Wow awesome that you all enjoyed it this sounds really good and I love dual POV - I imagine co-authors can really make them both sound so distinct, too! :)

  2. @Giselle - This story really stuck with me. It was unique, and that is just so hard to find!
At this point, my NEW favorite "dark" story is the Life of Anna series, by Marissa Honeycutt.
